if you can fit the manfold yourself then its deffo worth the hastle, ive got a 182 manifold, k-tec decat and k-tec stealth and it pulls VERY well
not sure how much labour would be charged for fitting though, that would possibly not make it worth while!
god knows probably end up costing thousands lol wasnt sure how strong the standard internals were so was just gonna play about n see what they could take!
fitting wouldnt have been a problem, just make a new alternator bracket to fit the charger above the alternator, get a larger belt to run...
yes in theory 4-1 manifold gives more top end power where a 4-2-1 gives more midrange and slightly less top end (in theory!)
ive not noticed any loss in top end (but then i fitted it with a decat at the same time so possibly that made up for the top end loss) but the extra mid range pull is...
got the fancy thermal inlet manifold gaskets to fit with my matched inlets once the cambelts done :) im dreading doing it i hate cambelts lol
cheers for the info guys
of course their's gains to be had, theres gains to be had on all cars, most people will tell you to buy a sport, i did, dont regret it one bit its an animal compaired to the 1.2 but if i could go back i wouldnt have saved my cash blowing all the money i spent on my old 1.2, it was awesome fun...
going in on thursday to order the cambelt kit for my 172 just wondering what else ill need, does the aux belt come in a kit or just the belt?
is it a good idea to do the water pump at the same time like the 1.2s? or are they better designed?
cheers
if i had to remove all my mods and was only aloud 1 it would be my 182 manifold, made a huge difference!! i knew there was big gains to be had but didnt expect quite what i got (fitted with decat at same time) the extra mid range was awesome

down a twisty backroad it was just as quick as my 172 is, you could corner quicker and brake later. infact if you didnt have big straights it could be quicker!

i put 20k on my 172 in a year and that was all just driving it for the sake of driving because its such an awesome car!
only had the dci 2 months and put 3k on it lol
Not much been happening with this lately, been waiting on a few parts coming and some more cash lol got 2 deliverys this week though :D:D
Rear bumper (sold mine so i could go for k-tec stealth instead of k-tec recessed)
Polished AWT Matched Inlets and fuel rail guard (thanks CHRISK172+)...
should be fine mine was blowing slightly and i didnt even get an advisory for it, as long as its secure and doesnt sound to loud you will probably only get an advisory at worse!
personally id get a mk2 172 or a mk1 172. id want aircon not as much to keep me cool but to de mist my windows in the winter, thats the one thing i really miss when i drive the dci no aircon takes for ever to demist the windows!
