how can you get more power? start by taking them off lol.
seriously tho, as said above by mr bognor, the K&N 57i is an open filter which will suck in hot air and loose you power, especially in summer. most think they gain them power because of the noise but when they go back to standard...
custom catback exhaust with decat, k-tec 4-2-1 manifold, induction kit (not up on the induction kits for this engine so dont know whats best)
fast road cams, 2.0 16v F4R throttle body (not the 172 engine, the megane 2.0 engine i think it is, matt black knows the one you need if you phone him...
thats what makes these clios fast, because they are so light, ok 170bhp isn't exactly a lack of power but if you had some merc or bmw with 170bhp it would hardly be fast!
so if you make it even lighter then it will be rapid!
strip it, coilovers, uprated disks and pads, braided brake lines...
thinking of ordering a set of white pro race 1.2s in 15" next week with 4 yoko A539's anyone got any pics of them on a black car?
even in black so i can photoshop them, any size will do but prefer 15"
cheers
love it mate but whats happening with all the 1.2 owners selling up?!?! :(
keep they wheels, lower it, clear repeaters, colourcode, coilovers ph2 rear lights and it will be rather cool!
by not fitting the dust covers im assuming the front suspension doesnt have bumpstops on it then? suspension will be bottoming out and fuking your dampers thats why mine fuked up within a month (got them fitted cheaply!) done them myself the 2nd time (£170 later for new front dampers) and fitted...
its higher at the rear than it is at the front? thats odd. looks good tho but id stick to 60mm drop on 15" mk1 172 wheels.
and id lose the renaultsport badge
basically a renault garage that doesnt sell cars, they still forget to tighten the sump plug, know fuk all about the cars they are working on and rip u off, apparently lol
theres more to top speed than bhp as has been discussed and a clio is much more aerodynamic than an old nissan micra, which makes all the difference at these speeds with little power
typical 2.0 boys thinking they are better ^^
as edde says, if his car is putting out 60bhp at 4.5k, then a 1.2 16v is putting out about 70-73bhp (75bhp @ 5500rpm) (obviously all engines are different with good old renaults! then surely a lighter car with 10-15bhp more at that rpm can do more...
just for the record, i know of 2 172's that have hit the rev limiter in 5th which is just over 150mph i think (both members r on here)
ive seen a 1.6 16v do an indicated 130mph
they handle good standard, not brilliant ;)
and as for not keeping up, a well set up, well driven 1.2 will not be lost with a 172/182 on twisty roads, yep the 172/182 pulls a big gap on straights but not if their is plenty corners, on all the ClioSport meets ive been on ive yet to loose sight...
my mate has a 1.4 8v saxo and its pretty much identical to my 1.2 16v performance wise, he pulls on me from a standing start but if were both moving say 30-100mph its pretty much identical, so wouldnt think a 1.1 would give a 16v a run for its money, saying that tho his is standard mine isnt
with a bit of tweaking they will handle better than a standard RenaultSport clio, everyone always says they should handle nearly as good as a 172/182 as if its a totally different car when in reality its not!
stick some better dampers, springs and tyres on a 1.2, 1.4 or 1.6 and it will handle...
206gti (138bhp model), saxo VTR, 1.6 proton gti thing (the 1 with lotus designed suspension), 2.0 cavaliar SRi are a couple i can think off the top of my head that havn't been able to keep up as quick with me round a bend.
and i was stuck to my mates bumper in his starlet GTT too untill straights
dont think extra weight makes much difference when it gets going because mine done 110mph with 5 big guys in it and it doesnt do much more than that with just me in it but trying to pull away at a junction etc it felt like it only had half the power.
straight line mine is boring slow but the...
hi, recently got myself a set of front foglights with wiring from a 172 cup, now they fit into place fine and all wire up but there is nothing to screw them into on the bumper, i remember russ having this same problem and think it was jon_16v that sold him the mounting brackets or something...
i doubt he would do it for someone after the hastle hes had doing it for himself, plus if it takes him 3 years to do his own car imagine how long it would take him to do someone elses ;)
problem you have with getting steel wheels is you need 15" ones as thats the smallest size that fits over the wheels! your best bet is to just get some cheap 15" alloys that are screwed and use them, and yep the thinner the tyre the more grip you get in snow and ice (look at rally cars on the...
