Like the above I'm waiting for the 5. My 3GS is still superb, infact if the battery wasn't on its way out I'd probably hold on for the 6. I've used a 4 and have seen little benefit tbh, the only feature i desire is the HDR camera thingy.

Thats the 50 groups crap that parkers have started using from this year though. On the old groups I think the 1.2 was a 3 and the 1.4 was a 4 or 5.

Them mods are a weekends worth of work, and its only that long because you have to let the paint dry! Just wait until your ready to insure it, then buy one. DCi 80/100 is a good shout, if not then go for the 1.4 16V imo.

Either: Buy a car now that needs work, use the time you have before your 17 to bring it up to a good unmodified standard or Wait until you need the car and buy one then, prices will have dropped slightly by then You dont want to be modding it before you have insured it because you dont know...

James (Aluco) had the same problem on his ph1 iirc, was just a bung that goes into the bottom of the rad that had split.

If you arrange a meet and get 50 genuine CS members to gather in the same location at the same time I'll buy every single one of them a mars bar (I would say a pint but I cant afford to lose £150 lol)
