Aftermarket ones usually have a hex in the top, but OEM to take off you'll need an impact gun ideally and a set of molegrips if it spins.

Paul's Demo car I had ran standard ECU, but he did recommend upgrading to the EC1.
Also EC1 is piece of piss to install if you've got a good head for it. I installed mine within an hour.

The thing is over a grand too! You can have an EC1 fitted and mapped for close to that without having to spend £300 in fuel getting there from Norfolk!
