    Is a Cup, 1k better than a PHS 1??

I take it you have owned both mate?

    Is a Cup, 1k better than a PHS 1??

The fact a cambelt might need done doesnt exactly inspire confidence! Anyone with any car maintenance sense should have it done if/and when needed! To use it as a bargaining tool fair enough, but i know id rather be bargaining with cosmetic damage than an impending cambelt change?

    My 2001 ph1 Clio 172 on eBay

As said mate, the cambelt is going to be the stumbling block upon this :(

    My 2001 ph1 Clio 172 on eBay

Seen this on Ph seems like a very honest example. tbh though £3400 is 2007 money for mint examples, if the imperfections on the body work were recitified id say its at best worth £3200 Best of luck with the sale though

    Is a Cup, 1k better than a PHS 1??

The cambelt scenario isnt so much of a problem as you would imagine as people were prety naive about it for the first one so they have only been done in 2007/8 thus meaning it wont need done for a further 72k/5 years. A bloody big gamble but in saying so...!

buying a 172 with 100+k on the clock

Maybe somthing pre 1990 yeah but like you say times have changed. Theres a few boys on here with cars well up and above 100k, i wouldnt think twice about it if the price was right!

    Is a Cup, 1k better than a PHS 1??

??? My old Phase 1 got 389 miles to a full tank. Thats between 39-42 mpg, considering its the same F4R engine albeit with subtle differences would suggest he either drove it like it was stolen or it was fucked

buying a 172 with 100+k on the clock

Like you said, if service is religious id have absolutley no qualms about buying a 100k car Tbh, 100k on a 8-9 year old car is average, there is no real reason why it shouldnt do another 100k

197 or 182 Trophy, I'm thinking of buying a Clio

If it were 10k for a hot hatch it would be a Mk1 Focus RS all day everyday Residual values are very strong and will remain so if kept well,15k for a Clio im sorry is utter lunacy (as much as i love them) imo ofcourse

197 or 182 Trophy, I'm thinking of buying a Clio

THe fuel consumption ultimatley puts me right off the 197 If it was quicker to the ton and faster to 60 then fair enough but the reality is that whilst it might be better built/better car it is no faster than a 2001 Phase 1 172 and thats proven time and time again. Less fuel consumption and...

    172 Cup 27k

Well if they offer you 4k for it then 4k will come off the price of a 200 If it has f/s/h and the cambelt done do not take anything less than £4750 it

    200 or GP

A 200 will be able to be bought for less than 10k once its out of warranty. A GP with the same miles at the time the 200 is out of warranty will be worth more, bottom line is, Minis hold there value, Clio's do not

    200 or GP

The GP is a far looking better car than the 200 imo The wheels and spolier might not tickle everyone but imo it does look better than the 200

    Mini JCW Review

I briefly drove Alans off here and the thing that struck me was the low down torque compared to that of the 172. Fantastic cars, i was never a fan but now id be quite happy to own one now. Runflat tyres make for quite a crashy ride and thus far im aware cannot be repaired with conventional...
