Great write up mate. Its nice to see somebody get their dream car. I went though pretty much the same feelings when I got my PH1 172. Lusted after one for over two years (nothing on your 10) and then getting it I remember looking at it on the forecourt of the petrol station whilst paying for...
I'm presuming your a young lad. In that case get an RS Clio. The MK4 Golf is not a true hot hatch, they branded a 2.0 8V a GTI in the MK4 for gods sake. Any bloke who is into their cars needs to have a proper hot hatch in their late teens and 20's, not that there is anything with wrong with...
£2-3000 gets you a nice PH2 Model. I'd be more focused on servicing and maintenance that mileage. The cam and aux belt changers with tensioners is essential on these cars and should be done every 5 years or 72K. Get one that's had it done by a proper specialist as its a £500+ job.

It would be ok all in the same colour, with some decent wheels and a drop in ride height.
I'd never do it to a 10 plate car though, its still worth a decent amount of money and it cuts potential buyers down 10 fold.
Two of the wheels on my MX5 are corroding according to the tyre fitting place I use around the inside rim and causing the tyres to slowly deflate.
I've had one of them resealed twice, they use a wire brush and reseal the tyre and its fine for about two months then it happens again.

Great feeling getting your 1st Renaultsport. Great spec you've gone for too, I'm sure you'll love it.
I wish I'd have been in a position to go for a 200 on the £199 on the month deal when it was on. Great cars.
I'd be looking for a Panda 100HP. Can get a low mileage 2007ish one for like £4000, they're supposed to be a great drive, plenty of kit, enough room for golf clubs.
Looks are Marmite but I think they're quirky.
I find country roads are the easiest roads to get high mpg from providing your not thrashing it and there aren't too many hills.
200 sounds like the perfect car for you Mark, If I had a 26 mile cross country commute I think I'd be in a 200. Very very good all rounder.
I lost £1400 in two years on my 1.2 Clio. I should have made a profit on it too but it was my first car and a couple of 'incidents' later I could only get £2100 for it.
My 172 depreciated £700 in the 8 months I had it, although £500 of that was mods.
My Mazda 323 deprecited by £75.

Fortunately my MX5 doesn't really have many of the 'luxury' items on that list. No airbags, esp, traction control, hell it doesn't even have a fuel light.
Issue's I may have are its rusting to bits, wheel bearing fucked, CAT doesn't work etc..... :/
