You need a fuse as close to battery as possible! The engine bay ones are after were it's likely to get a fault. For the ten quid for holder and few fuses your silly not too!

Yea think new shaft only, wouldn't buy a cheap one of eBay. See if Renault do one, if they don't then you need a driveshaft

No grease that side of that shaft, it's gearbox oil.
