fail with the light permanently on, pass and advise with no light at all.

service light isn't a 'your car needs servicing light'. resistors will sort both out if rest of the system is fine.

bike carbs is a bit of a backwards step to say the least.

the sliders will need sorting out, they get corroded in between the two rubbers and this stops the movement. carrier can corrode and jam the pads in place as well.
