its the same basic castings and internals......
but teh 172 has had lots of detailing to it to make the power it does.......not the same, but not entirely diff.....you COULD whop a 172 head on there if you wanted. etc etc
hello, just got back to HK!!!
anyhow.
gains over the other exhausts is mainly weight.....material will not affect power until tunned lengths come into play. and full costs are not settled yet as its BRAND new.
But we will have to wait and see.
Ching...im waiting for that GTA drive...hahaha
well, iif you get cames, tehre is no point going for a slightly wilder profile....you might aswell go teh whole hog or youll have to rip it aprt again to do teh other parts.
so, lumpy cams, then add new guides and double springs, retainers, a little machining, gaskets,, vernier pulleys...
I measured the sized and posted the difs a while ago.........not much.
outer Dia is teh same but inner on teh MK2 is smaller and tapered.
there is no point changing to MK2 TB, and there is not enough metal on teh MK1 to machine out, but small improvements ot the spindle can be made as its...
the old GTT engines are not unreliable...if put together bad then yes.....but that goes for any engine!
its a tried lump that has lasted the ages........give it credit...its ace.
head angle......
surely the actual angle the head sits on the block is the same...and its the manifold face that not as inclined on the 1.8 as it is on the 2ltr. But that shoud be simple enough to get round with designing the right manifold.
But its the fiorst i have heard that the actual...
hello......
i can now get hold of the brand new titainium system for the 172, its is gorgeous, has a lovely design, 4" slah cut tail pipe. and is about £470.......
But again, i doubt anybody has the balls on HK to get it......
it has a removable rear silencer to suit people needs.
Its is the same engine, except for some turbo adaptions such as oil feeds and returb holes in the block, a diff had, turbo cam profiles, damn heavy crank, diff pistons.....etc etc...
But essentially, it can be bolted straight into a clio...but it only makes 170bhp....the 200bhp one for the new...
well, you would really need to get the TB to flow more otherwise any porting behind it in the air path is goin to awste as the TB can max.
That jap one IS expensive!!!!
The inlet manifold.....there is a little you can do to get it sitting exactly flush with the cylinder head, as they are...
TBs are teh only major step to getting real power from your engine....OE plenhams just wont cut it.....you need one choke per cylinder.
In nxt months mini mag thre is a 2ltr XE motor on TBs with a turbo so have a look...its neat.
and nick, the webber gold package is probably the abst...
yup, adjusting the fueling and ignition to suit will be neccesary.
But gains from the TB will be ltd as there is not much you can remove, and teh FBW doesnt help as its a sealed unit.
But basic flowing and matchign of the inlet manifold along with deatailing to the head should reap about as...
well, no ,we cant keep buying demos with nobody particualrly interested.....but iw wont be more noisy than the cup i think.
But i would go with the noisy K-tek affair anyway...build quality is miles ahead despite what some people in Chai Wan say.......
but if you want, you could always keep...
um, impossible cause water and oil channels dont line up..and one major difficulty being that the GTT head is a pushrod affair and the Rt is a OHC.
and yes, Renault is a b*****d when ti comes to interchangeability...which is why i run with fords now......theyre faster anyway.....:P
an unichip wont be up to controlling a well setup car runnign TBs.
and a new management system should only cost 500-600 quid......inc windows based software.
unichip si a piggy abck ssytem which interupts and changes signals to & from the ecu...and is ltd in it capabilities.
i
hehe....im gonna get piccky for a min.......
the poppetty pop noise on overrun is almost purely from a lean idle mixture.
as you run down off throttle, not all teh carge is burn due to inefficiencies such as ignition timing (little of) little gas flow etc etc. thsi nburn fuel passes thorugh...
indeed, i was opposite, and took me and the supplier 3 weeks to make a suitable serial program to get fueling and ignition right (this is in Hong Kong, not the best tunning world).
but it does feel a tad better and the wail at 7750rpm is amazing.
and is about as far as you can go really on...
well, not wihtout some mods to other areas which area mainly induction......
the cam is fine really, but the TB and inlet manifold are not the best.....soem 2ltr pug coaches (405,406, 607 etc) have bigger TBs.
anyway, tehre is always some thing you can do.
well, its all relative.....
for an OE head, thats just cast.....its brilliant. but thats not to say you cant do things to it to provide more power.
the real gain though is from eitehr modding the inlet manifold and throttle body as these are teh main restrictions.....i say restrictions as...
i like the way he describes the race "the ol peter pan"!!!!!???
ergh......i never condemn this balls out driving and thinks its just plain stupid....and people wonder why others call them boy racers..
all seems easy to fit, blah blah...but again, in HK, you will have no space to use it......and it really is an all show no go item.....with no real use.
you cant compare mods, as conditions will never be the same at different times etc.....so, its just for a a laugh really.
as for the...
clutches arent the 172s strong point..........they burn with heavy use and wear fast.
plus, feel aint too great either, well, neither is teh clutch pedal position and arc.........oops, sounds like im complaining!
how do you kow flames come out if your in the car?
and the little grumbly poppity pops happen on almost all cars when silencers are removed and you have a slightly lean idle.
well, not wihtout some mods to other areas which area mainly induction......
the cam is fine really, but the TB and inlet manifold are not the best.....soem 2ltr pug coaches (405,406, 607 etc) have bigger TBs.
anyway, tehre is always some thing you can do.
