Re: James/BigAsh 182 Race Car by TDF... It doesn't get much better than this! *Pic He
craners is flat you big poof!! ;) you're going to slowly through the old hairpin and schwantz curve is flat all the way until you hit the brakes!
Re: Why is my dealer asking for about £85+vat for front springs? Shouldn't they be l
the price changed about 6months ago, they are now £85+vat, renault are ALWAYS changing their prices!!
aux kit for 172/182 WAS £133.75, now its £72
i dunno, i have seen 17degC (from memory, i have the details on my work laptop) difference on my fancy laser wotsit, that's a fair chunk of heat to "get rid of"
EDIT hang on just checked my old e-mails
take the car for a good long drive, then turn off the engine and put your hands on your polished plenum, let me know how long you can hold them on there for ;)
polishing up the plenum - yes it looks pretty, but technically you are making the surface area of the material less therefore = hotter inlet temp = worse performance
worn tyres on the inside edge has nothing to do with the camber, you won't notice that camber difference
swap the wheels front to back, what tyre pressure are you running?
7hour job plus you need cambelt kit, cam seals (timing belt end) core plugs (gearbox end) plus you may aswell change the dephaser pulley whilst its apart
and you MUST HAVE the renault only tools to do it
and don't use the renault sealant - its rubbish!
If it sounds like a diesel taxi at idle when the engine is hot (loads of videos on youtube to compare) then yes its the dephaser, and yes the belts "should" be replaced
its HOW you fit it, you almost have to ignore the markings, you go too far on the tension and then go back on yourself and it will line up close enough, hard to explain!
here's 2 pictures for you to see
number 1 - note the position on the cam tensioner markings AND the position of the allen key - correct
number 2 - note how the cam tensioner markings are in the SAME position, yet the allen key is pointing at a 45degree angle?
this is caused by the belt...
See the problem i'm having? Renault don't want to be told there's an issue by little old Fred, who the f**k is Fred? Gates are doing some testing over the next few weeks, as i say we've had an engineer out and he agrees there's an issue, hopefully the people who make the belt for Renault will...
no there is a belt length tollerance issue which causes the tensioner when fitted to be past the position it should be, this in turn causes the tensioner to hit its stops with the engine at idle, seems i'm the only one who spotted it (after i had 10 cars in a row do it last year which i had to...
I've been on at renault for 12months now TELLING THEM that there is a fault with the cambelts, had one of the head engineers from Gates at mine and he agrees, Renault just aren't interested! Who am i to tell Renault that there's a problem?? "Our master techs haven't reported an issue"
listen to...
