that sounds worse than just a dephaser, see why its wise to go to a specialist?
95% of the belts we do have a dephaser change too, we advise it for a reason!!
if you ask a Trophy owner they'll say yes!

I wouldn't go that far, get an extended warranty, its sort of a must with one of them, although saying that all the ferrari's i've looked after were pretty reliable (surprisingly!)

^now they TIG weld it all, i always said that was what let it down, all that nice work then they MIG'd the tailpipes on - which was daft! Have you seen the price of the BTB now though??? £650!
We generally don't fit customer supplied cambelt/aux kits or dephasers/waterpumps etc, not because of money reasons, but what happens "if" something were to go wrong in the first 12months? You'd blame me and i'd blame the parts - ie a nightmare, plus my insurance company wouldn't be interested...
I had a good one today, Halfords auto centre have been stopped by the owner halfway through doing a cambelt (just a belt, not a kit!) after she called me to double check if she was getting ripped off, why she took it there in the first place i have no idea!

they don't have a cable, they have a speedo sensor on the back/top of the gearbox, and renault being renault, its sat next to the exhaust manifold, so when it gets hot enough the sensor will go on strike
there's a heatsheild that clips over the sensor, check yours is still in place
mikeh - if you did a blind test (obviously not blind as that would be dangerous LOL) of 2 cars, 1 with and 1 without the whiteline you'd be surprised at the difference
