lol yeah, 20.7c (although obviously nothing is running there).
The cabling at the moment is in a right state as I just ended up throwing most of it together today in a rush to quickly test it (with exception to the motherboard power) before leaving for work.
the only other pic I've got is this crappy iPhone one but it's not that much further along in this one, it just shows the temperature readout and the PSU installed.
Tbh I can see this being a bit of a money pit for me next year, more SSD, another 6GB, 2nd GPU, motherboard waterblocks etc etc
I think I definitely did the right thing going watercooled, its awesome.
Made some progress today, all booted up and a quick install of windows done. It's still going to be some time before this is completely finished, but atleast everything checks out for now. The 8-PIN power connections from the PSU to the top of the motherboard were VERY, VERY tight!
how things are looking at the moment:
(I sorted out the Bitspower temperature monitor and XSPC LCD readout as well) but the tube going from the CPU > Radiator is too short and I can't currently fit the Corsair memory fans or LED readout, small pain in the ass, but nothing that can't wait...
I didn't but I'm not using barbs in my system, don't like them. Thanks for the tip on the fans, will do, everything else in the system so far is virtually silent.
The bill at the moment once the GPU is bought is a shade under 3K. That's without plans for a second GPU and 12GB, possibly another SSD as well.
Just water tested for the first time and no leaks whatsoever (yet anyway) so pretty pleased, the EK CPU Block is REALLY, REALLY nice.
I'll try...
Spec is as follows:
Case: Corsair 800D
Motherboard: Asus Rampage III
CPU: Intel i7 950
CPU Block: EK Supreme HF Nickel Plexi
Memory: Corsair 6GB 2000Mhz
HDD: Corsair Force 120GB SSD (more HDDs to be added)
Monitor: Viewsonic 27" Widescreen 1920x1080
Opitcal Drive: LG Blu-Ray (BDRW)...
I'll try and post the full spec up later, but the original budget has definitely been thrown out the window, couldn't help myself and opted for the 1200W Corsair PSU
Reservoir > Pump > GPU > CPU > Radiator > Reservoir
Although initially it will be Reservoir > Pump > CPU > Radiator > Reservoir ( until I can get hold of the GPU ) which isn't likely to be until sometime in December.
Corsair Force 120GB for now.
My current system has 2 x 150GB 10,000rpm Raptors & 2 x 1TB 7200rpm which I'm not sure if I'm going to move any over or just buy all new.
I might go 1 x 120GB SSD for OS, 1 x 150GB 10,000rpm Raptor for Games, 1 x 1TB for everything else, or will either just buy...
Just ordered everything, should be here tomorrow. Gone with Red.
Was very difficult to decide whether to go with the ASUS Rampage III or the EVGA Classified 3 but went for the ASUS in the end.
Yes! Definitely the right way now ;)
I've just read that the 'enthusiast' versions of Sandy Bridge won't be available until Q3 next year. I'm not prepared to wait until then so it looks like I'll be going for the ASUS Rampage III & i7 950, I'm just waiting on the watercooled version of EVGA's...
The results of my efforts over the last few days:
