182 also has a thicker rear anti roll bar. Dont know if it can be put on the 172 but apparently this is what contributes to the improved handling on the 182.
At Renault Crewe over the weekend think its a 172 Cup with different speedline wheels £9995 !!!!!!!
Cheeky when they offered 8k top for mine 53 plate with 10k on ....
Whos was it ???
Cups quicker round the track than the normal 172/ 182. The gap is bigger on the 172 varient due to 80kg lighter apose to 20 kg lighter with the 182.
On the road its mainly down to the driver.
Summary:-
1. If you want all the gizmos and nicer trim and pay for it go for the 172/182 (Cup...

You can happily run wider tyres on the back than at the front, just not the other way round.
I run 205s at the back and currently have 195s on the front.
I think you will find its the other way round. On a FWD car all the load / work is on the front tyres so...
I have the pros, was thinking of the sports lines myself but went for the more subtle. It does lower it after it settles and the handling is much improved. Main advantages are that it reduces the torque steer, body roll and its a lot less nervous especially over bumps. High speed stability if...
No real noticeable difference in ride quality, honestly. In fact it feels more comfortable and more stable its a lot more sure footed. I have Yoko A539 which are good in the dry but crap in the wet so i would recommend a different brand but the same size.

I have Pilot 2s on my 172, which are about 6 months old.
Would i be right in thinking, when these were fitted, this would have been the only version on the Pilot 2 available?
What size tyres are you running on your car as the smallest pilot sport 2 tyre they produce is 225/45 17...
On a standard wheel 215/40 any wider and they rub and taller 215/45 they rub.
Mine dont rub at all with eibachs fitted. 172 Cup
Do it, you wont be disapointed !!!!
There is only 1 tyre for the 182
Pilot exalto 2, the cup option has the same tyre as the normal 182, it a reno blag that there are others tyres with stiffer tyrewalls.
I have 215/40 on the front of my cup with std contis on the back. With the eibachs fitted its really good and getting better the more miles you put on them. With the 195s 1st and second gear corners just get the tyres smoking (hence dont last long) with the 215s there is very little wheelspin...
Starting to get some feedback after some miles on the tyres.
INITIAL THOUGHTS
Pressures were at 30 psi initially they felt a little soft compared to the sharpness that you get with the original conti and the std size. After this i increased the preasures to 35psi, this improve the situation...
Got 215/40 16 fitted tonight just some pick to look at for now, will let you all know after some miles.
I have Eibachs fitted and there is no rubbing at all.

Think i will buy some and try this afternoon, as i said at the top of the thread they worked a treat when i had my 16v. That was 8 years ago and you could get some of the last Yoko A510s.
Will let you all know....
There is only the 83v rating for this tyre size.
Look on Michelins website for all the sizes and the codes. The cup option doesnt have different tyres. I am told that the stiffer sidewalls are classified as XL (extra load) as on Pilot Sport 2s, i dont see XL anywhere for the Ex 2s...
Will be changing the tyres on my cup soon and from previous experience 6 years ago on my Mk1 16v i had coilovers on which transformed the handling. I then added 16inch (17inch rubbed) TSW wheels and 215/40 tyres Yoko A520 at the time. Grip was too another level and the handling / performance etc...
Stolen in November - not found........
