    best shampoo for the car

I've been meaning to get some new shampoo but had a massive contained of the Turtle Wax Extreme Wash n Wax stuff, its surprisingly good especially if you finish off with a waffle weave towel with some QD, almost no need to polish, except the OCD makes me.

    V Power fuel

yeh and now that the petrol prices have come down its affordable too. retails at around 95p a litre here now, was up to £1.10 a while ago. definitely a lot smoother, marginally better economy and seems to accelerate slightly quicker too

    tyre dressing

I have recently got some of the Turtle Wax Platinum Series Revitalising Tyre Dressing (what a mouthfull!) and found it to be really good and seems to last for ages even in the wet. For added gloss I use the CG's New Look dressing over the top, the products seem to work well together, both for...

    Thames Water = c0cksuckers!!!

It's totally stupid the ban. Thames water lose millions (literally) of litres of water a day through leaks, and commerically you are still allowed to use as much water as you want as long as you are "responsible" whatever that means. The washers you find at petrol stations use tens of times the...

The 'What MPG Do You Get?' Thread

Ive got a mk2 172, says I get about 37 mpg as do lots of cruising on the motorway which is pretty good, just quite rubbish during urban driving.

Anyone want to PC my Car...

£70 is a bargain mate, very competitive for the benefit your car will receive. If you haven't got your own equipment either would cost your a LOT more to stock up on all the top products I'm sure Rich will be using

    dont laugh....

If I had £15k to blow on a car I definitely wouldn't spend it on doing up a 106, like the man said the Golf GTI or Honda Civic Type R are the way to go, then you can mod them later if you feel the need. With the new Type R on the way you should be able to pick up a bargain if you wait a bit too...

    relocating fuel cap

Moving the fuel cap has to be the worst idea for a mod ever.... can easilly go wrong when in the cutting stage, hard to access fuel pipe and VERY dangerous. There are so many other things you could do to your car to make your car "different", why do this?! It's like having your dick stapled to...

    M Sealant on Wheels...

Have to recommend M Sealant on wheels. I use AG SRP monthly, then M Sealant forthnightly on the wheels and they never look more than moderately dirty. Plus, you can wipe off any dust with a microfibre instead of washing them easilly as it the sealant doesn't allow the dust to bond to the metal...

    Waffle wave towel

Really pleased with mine, seems to get better the more I use it. I use a Flxe-Blade to get the majority of water off then go over twice with wwt. If your paints in good nick like mine, I find that wiping over once with water to get the dust off then using QD with the wwt leaves a really good...

    What You Think?

Very much agree. Official all the way, looks better, performs better and helps resale value rather than detracts.

ok... heres the plan.... wheel refurb

mate, for a one-off job i would DEFINITELY reccommend getting a professional to do it. It will be cheaper and get a much better finish than by doing it yourself, especially if its your first time. Also, if anything goes wrong then they assume liability.

    Waxing / sealant

I've been using the M Sealant and been very happy with the results both for looks and durability

    Supaguard...How do I ??

We used to charge customers £250 for Diamondbrite, and the kit only cost us £40, but to to a "proper" job, i.e. do all the door/ bill sills does take a fair amount of time. I agree though, an excessive profit margin though really. If you have some valeting experience and follow the instructions...

    How big are these?

Yeh... why they called work towels? They look just the same as regular ones, no?

    polishing

You need an applicator and a take- off cloth, preferably a microfibre towel. You can get these from Halfords or many of the sites listed on here. Apply thin coats, you don't need to put on loads. Read the instructions to see if you need to leave the polish to cure at all, if not just wipe off...

Mine has a Porka! In black, looks sick next to my 172 on the drive.

    racing stripes.

I have seen them, I would say they look different rather than good, like Kat Slater. They look better without though. The Clio just doesn't suit decals - they are much better suited to American or Asian produced cars - the Nissan 350z Turismo version released last year in white with 80s decals...

    long lasting wax/polish

You can pick up a Diamondbrite kit at trade price for aounrd £40. As long as your paint is fairly mint before you apply, really does work well for the mmoney (assuming its applied properly!)

    Megs NXT generation Spray Wax

I got some Megs Quick Detail spray to try out. On the paint work, I must say that it leaves a good shine, but this might be due to me having used a good sealant a few weeks ago. On the windows however its streaky as f**k!! Personally, I think a wipe over with a waffle weave drying towel then a...

    Paintwork doesn't feel very smooth?

Me and my 172: first we got wet and wild with some lovely extreme dry tutrle shampoo (YES its Turtle and I'm proud!!). Next, I slid some SRP over its seductive black contours. Things were going well. I then teased her with some Extreme M Sealant, and just when she thought she had received all...
