Hi mate,
Probably too late now but I had the same problem, end of the day I gave up and will be taking it for someone to do it for me.
The only place I could find that might work is the bonnet release cable, putting it through that grommet.. I tried but it seemed to be boxed off on the...

I find that a Webley & Scott Vulcan .22 is the best way of dealing with it ;)
I prefer this, which I keep in my desk drawer.

So this aint covered by warranty?!
Will get him to get it checked out when hes back off his honeymoon...
Mine was fixed under warranty.
Ye, not really what you wanted to hear but if you really wanna make your 1.2 into a 172 the best/cheapest way would be to sell yours and buy a 172, you can pick up a used 172 for pretty good prices now.
Ye it needs re-gased, mine was the same.. but make sure they check for leaking pipes first as 2 of my pipes had to be replaced, if you take it to a dealer its 150 quid to get re-gased.

Mind you, the soggy springs and high ride height on the mk1 make it handle a bit like a jelly on wheelsRhys
The mk1s look like jelly on wheels too.. :o ohh stir em up..
how do you mean not working ? does the AC light come on ? and the fans blow .. but not cold ?
cause if so then its more than likely the system needs re-gassed, my 172 was only 10months old and it leaked all the gas, 2 pipes had to be replaced and it had to be re-gased again.
Could be that...
i guess if you got one out a scrappy you might be able to retrofit it, but you would need the climate control console and all the wiring aswell. And it will probably need re-gassed which would be about 150 quid.
Err, cant really say just now where I got it from.
They cost so much cause there is quite a bit of technology in them for example looking straight past the full motorised part of it, straight past the fact that there is a screen where you can normally only fit a cd player.. the sat nav will...
I will be putting it up with a reserve of £500.
It has full AI-Net aswell so you can hook up anything made by alpine that has AI-net (virtually everything they make now)
The reason I am selling it is I got a rather good deal on a full panasonic Navigation/Changer/7" screen HU - I am...
