Clunking 1st gear! please advise!

Hey all,

Im in for my 24k service on thursday, and wondering how i can sort this feckin clunking 1st gear out once and for all. (when warmed up and in neutral, engage 1st gear and there is a deep clunk)

Is it known what it actually is yet??, because I have mentioned it loads to the dealer and it always comes back the same / no problem found bollox. Only got 1 year of warranty left and need to know if it is sortable / what the hell it is?

Would really appreciate some comments / how you fixed it guys,

mine does it now and again too, not really a loud deep clunk but there is deffinatly a "im now engaged in 1st gear" sound..

when do you engage 1st gear?

Below 5mph or above that speed like a r****d?

I *believe* its a known fault..?

It happens when engaging from neutral as I said in my post, at very slow speeds it does not clunk.

EG: sat at traffic lights, feet off pedals, light goes green, foot - clutch - 1st - clunk.

well thats good to hear, I sit there in disbelief when people try and ram it into 1st at 20mph etc

Is it a clunk going into 1st or when 1st is engaged and moving off?

If its a bit notchy going in then thats normal for any box.

i think mine does this too its not botherd me really just sounds like my mates scooby when the dif locks when moving off lol

Its a known one!! they all do it.

Both !!!!!! of my gearboxs did it

Clunk going into 1st. Jesus, its just so worrying as no other bloody car ive driven clunks when engaging gear! french donkeys. Ill live with it I guess, just odd how so little people know about it then if they all do it!
