Standard pads arent expensive tbh, especially if your not bothered about genuine renault
So id say the price is steep yep!
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Yeah, the center box on mine used to be like a small cherry bomb silencer rather than a box, didnt make 'that' much difference to noise when removed, just a tad louder under load...
Iven taken half the wadding out so il just have to see how that effects it...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Got some 2.25" already, cheers for the offer though!
Had a play around before, cut a section off the side of the backbox as said earlier. The thing was packed out to the max with wadding, no wonder the small tip wasnt making much noise!
Removed it all...
I very much doubt there is much gain from removing it power wise TBH, it will just let the engine spin up that tiny bit quicker, not worth it for that though IMO.
I removed power steering because it was shi*e, leaked every 2 mins from the main joint and it was a pain in the arse to get to in...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
LOL.
Yeah Dave, it will be slightly further in. It was just a test fit to get the center section length right, so I have an idea of the correct length now.
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Been meaning to do this for AGES, think I remember mentioning it around May time when I first did the conversion, but anyways.
Got hold of another Mongoose backbox last week, for the purpose of modifying it. Also so it would fit straight onto my current...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
The curse of the Mk1 struck again today, some bad luck (for once in the past few months).
As some of you who've seen the car in the past few months will know, the starter was getting 'lazy', which I presume has been caused by excessive heat from the exhaust...
One of my seals (Exhaust) got 'nicked' by the rocker cover when I was tightening it down, and as a result of that is pissed oil out of the side of the head...
Most probably the cause, weather it be exhaust or the dephaser/inlet seal as danny said if its a considerable amount
lol, was just about to PM you to ask you to bring it along
Fitted a new custom/diy backbox to my system, but need to know what DB's is putting out, I think its around the same (104ish), but if its less im removing some wadding from the box......so would be ideal if I could find out
Im not on about track rod ends? lol.
The whole arms, they come apart from the 'joint' under the gaitor and can be swapped, ive seen it done on another forum. Williams arms onto a manual rack so he could run williams widetrack.
