Add your parents? Maybe cos I'm still young ;) but adding them lowered mine by £150 on a £800 insurance quote a couple of years back.
What's your accident/points record like?
Very interested to see how this project goes. Best of luck with it mate and keep this thread updated.
That would be my ideal 172! Even down to the number plate style.
That's a stonking price!
Best quote I've had is £950 FC for a 172 at 21, 3NCB, 3 points, 1 fault and 1 non fault accident.
Ferrari F355 for £2k fully comp doesn't really say good value for the 172 lol
Really, I've never noticed people saying that.
Thing is, if you don't floor it in 1st, doesn't it take a while for the power to come in 2nd, making 0-60 times meaningless?
I've always floored my cars in 1st. I coud just be lucky tho. I hope its not the case or I'm going to take it easy in...
Elephant were about 30% cheaper than anyone else again this year so I renewed. The renewal was cheaper than anyone else by a few quid but I did the quote online as a new customer and it was £130 cheaper! So obviously they agreed that for me.
Most foreign person I've had on the phone from...
Around £130-140 with key blade, blip, immobiliser and programming. Its delivered from France so should be with you between 1 and 2weeks. Bear in mind, if the locks have been changed by you or a previous owner, you will need them changed again. Not cheap iirc. So its worth getting if you have...
Same thing happened to me with RAC insurance a few yrs ago, they told me that the extra discount from 1NCB to 2NCB was less than the increase in premiums that year.
DO NOT assume that they will be cheapier than everyone else, this is the 1st year that I have renewed as I have always found...
When I was doing some quotes, I noticed the longer I had owned the car, the lower the quote was. Never thought about that before, but makes sense.
Well couldn't have you thinking your post was a waste of time
Personal preference mate. I never modded my car, but I paid higher insurance than I should have cos of points and an accident. But a car is worth it, esp to young drivers as its such a new thing.
Same thing to say why spend £5000 on a excellent home cinema set up when you can buy a very good...
I had one of these! Was really my dads though. Think I had zelda and minator (??).
I never understood how it works, I tried copying the tapes to minidisc to keep forever lol
Well for nearly 2yrs I averaged around 30mpg in a 1.4 8v but since I was only driving it on the weekends or 2 weekends a month so it got hammered a lot :o Then in the last year I was averaging around 33/34 with a mix of hammering and talking it easy but could never get any better no matter how...
I think I'm right in saying poor fuel economy can be linked to lambda sensor issues.
If so, will this show on the MOT emissions as they do the lambda test on fast idle? Its suppose to be between 0.97 and 1.03 and mine is 1.00.
If that means my lambda is fine, then I must just have a heavier...
Don't moan! You get cheaper insurance just cos you have a vagina. Now that's bonkers!
£550 seems a lot tho, I mean, you're preety old now aint you :rasp: Thought 25 was the big magic number for insurance?
As long as you have a copy of your Windows Key (its normally on a sticker you put on your machine) then you can use anyones copy of the Windows CD.
Just as long as you get the right version, eg. XP Home, XP Professional, and then put your key in in reinstall.
Ta Craig. Don't need any tbh, don't go over my mins or texts, maybe I should get some friends :o
Oh, saw a 20vt LE or plus in a car park today in that lovely dark blue, beautiful! Almost made me think twice about getting a 172 lol
Time to move elsewhere maybe?
At 19, I paid £850 in my name with 1 NCB, 3 points, 2 accidents (1 fault) on a mk2 ph1 1.4 8v.
This year I got my renewal price down from £470 to £340 just because I did an online quote with my company as a new customer for £340. I told them I'm not paying £470...
Go to an independant mate, mine cost me £170 for full cambelt change and another £170 for full 36k service (which I'd recommend since you dont know if its been done or not).
That was my mk2 ph1 1998 R reg 1.4 RT.
