Earth strap(s) to chassis is where i'd be looking. Get badly corroded. Cause similar symptoms. Remove, wire brush down, refit ;)

First check the connector to the lock mechanism. If thats ok, its proabably the lock unit, it was on mine. Either trip to the scrappies or a new one, but they are £70 ish!

[/B] Get what you pay for. I got my fingers (badly) burnt by the GAZ stuff and they are £500 ish! cheap build, crap damping/rebound. This all help ruin my old Cup. I've since had H&R on a 172/182/197, and imo are prefect for a fast road set up. I'm now running Bilstein B14's on my 'new' 172...

With a non 182 cupped car you have a wider choice of coilovers also ;)
