Fair comment ref the pricing, I guess the question is whether you want to keep the mag ride dampers or not. If you've not got them then coilovers with adjustable damping would seem like better value.
I've always liked these, apparently it's possible to dial out a lot of the understeer with some choice suspension bits:

Might have to give that a go, I remember happy drunken null-modem MechCommander gaming sessions at uni.
Kids, if you don't know what a null-modem cable is, ask your parents, assuming they used to play PC games. Or google it. Whatever, I don't care :D
Oh yeah, that's going to be a "thing" soon enough. PPF removal services, undetectable, blah blah blah.
It's just not worth the cost of re-engineering cars which are low selling and/or nearly end of life to meet the new test requirements.
At that budget and if it's just a temporary thing I'd be going used mate, it's a bit of a roll of the dice but you should be able to find something decent local enough to go and see, plus you shouldn't lose much or anything if you want to sell it on and upgrade later.
For what it's worth I've...
Thanks guys - much appreciated. I remember hearing good things about the Costco Arcan jack a few years back and it doesn't need to be particularly light as it's for home use. Definitely some options there.
Whats good these days for jacks and axle stands? Don’t mind spending a bit of money for decent quality kit so not looking at £30 eBay special jacks (unless they’re decent - some hope!)
My t(rusty) old 2 tonne Halfords jack has served me pretty well, but it’s not low entry and is achingly slow...
Holy thread resurrection!
Just wondering why the preference for wireless over wired? I’ll only ever be using one within range of mains power, is it just the cord gets in the way? I think I’m going to go for either the mains Clarke or the “eBay special” battery job, but have literally zero...
I’ve got an Office 365 subscription so use that on the home PCs and iOS devices. Can’t fault it and get unlimited OneDrive storage too. Works out cheap if you buy a code from amazon every year and use the onedrive a lot.
Takes the square root of sod all power compared to the load of starting the thing. Your symptoms sound exactly like those I'd expect from a goosed battery - a low battery voltage can cause absolute havoc with the electrics once it gets below a certain value.
As you've had the alternator checked...
Try A-plan's performance/hot hatch section in Thatcham - they are good for specialist/low mileage type policies.

But... but.... you're adding weight to the car! You'll need to remove some bolts to compensate, get rid of half the ones holding the wishbones on, it'll be fine.
Feel.... so..... old.......

What a heap of crap that car was, but you never forget your first and all that. Had some experiences in it I'll always remember.
