If yours is a phase 2 172 and is not a 172 Cup its base kerb weight wet is 1,110 kgs. The phase 1 was 1,035 kgs so I suspect Renault just didn't update the user manual.
As for the accuracy of Torque there's far to many unquantifiable variables at play. You'll probably get a more accurate figure...
That's good to hear. The real test is if they let serious prospective buyers drive it without laying down a cash deposit first. Fingers crossed they do. If not, they've learned nothing.
I don't get the gearbox fragility concerns. It's a Getrag unit, I thought they were pretty darn good.
41k eh Steve? Good work! I'm just about to drift past 33k in my ST.
Yeah, agreed, when block changing it is a PITA. I'd rather it didn't do it at all and they let the revs drop a little quicker but it's not the end of the world.
It does indeed! Holds the revs at the right level for 1-2 seconds...took me a while to get used to it but I don't think about it now. I find the rev decay a bit slow so making use of it does slow my shifts down and they're nice and smooth.
Mine was left plugged in when I had my neck operation in early January, I didn't drive my car for four weeks.
No issues at all when I came to brave driving it for the first time.
I see what you're saying...but, until just over 2 years ago a global multitude of Apple iPhone users swore blind and absolutely refused to accept that you needed anything more on a phone than a 3.5 inch screen. Do they think that now? Who'd be happy going back to a postage stamp of a screen?
If...
I can see why we'll all have these in the future.
Why would I want to dig my phone out of my pocket to read and respond to a text or to check an appointment or directions when it's available immediately on my wrist?
Once the technology improves, I'll have one...just not an Apple one as...
I leave mine connected 24/7 in the ST. No battery problems at all after almost two years and 33k miles. As far as I can tell when the car's off all it does it illuminate a tiny LED to signify it's plugged in.
Nope, not me, mine's largely rattle and squeak free.
As for the brakes, the pads are a very aggressive compound, they make grinding noises at low speeds, especially after standing overnight with the lightest coating of rust on the discs. That's a small price to pay for pads that perform like...
I've always used Android and my experience is identical to yours. What does that say?
I do chuckle when there are so many viable alternatives out there that people still cling to the almost desperate sense of superiority when it comes to Apple products. You're cool and Apple truly love (own?)...
Why can't Renault get any meaningful torque out of this engine?
Even with the 'overboost' function (available in 4th and 5th gear only) the 280nm is shy of what the ST produces as standard - and after Mountune MP215 the ST has over 320nm.
Compared to the non-overboost 240nm this new more...
+ the all important 'Trophy' embroidered head rests. For me, so long as the 'box is a bit more responsive, I think they've done enough. For the community en masse though I think they've failed.
It is according to Jeremy Townsend on the RS forum. Just after the Clio EDC was released he chipped into a conversation to say that the Trophy brand is reserved for the more dedicated, track focused, versions of their cars.
As for the Megane -R being the track brand... that's a Trophy -R is it not?
No Brembos! Shock horror!
Has to be power and 'box (and diff hopefully) if its to warrant the hardcore 'track focused' Trophy name.
If it's just the name and some sticky tyres it would appear that RS have given up on the UK market.
12 hrs and we'll know for sure
Sadly the R.S. in the centre of that wheel will most probably be a dealer chargeable extra and then still come in the wrong colour for the wheels.
I hope they have done something proper with the Trophy, all it needs is a small increase in power, a big increase in torque, a manual 'box, and...
...I was quite surprised by this given the pitlane at Goodwood had just had a fresh sprinkling of drizzle.
A couple of quicker gear changes and with solid traction all the way through 2nd I should better Lord 'arris' figure of 15.4.
Look at what they've recently done with Megane and the Trophy/R versions. Jeremy separately has confirmed that the 'Trophy' moniker was to be reserved for the hardcore models only.
They've done it with the Megane, it's the Clio's turn next...so given what they did to the Megane it should be...
