I did exactly this with my 172 Cup. Every single thing removed was weighed, and every replacement part was weighed. Took a net total of 117kg out so ended up at a nice 904kgs (if the 1,021kg starting point was correct). Made a huge difference to how it went.

The reason the seats are kgs lighter in the 172 Cup is due to not having side airbags or lumbar support. The difference due to leather versus cloth seat covers is measured in grams.

Close...the 172 Cup was 1,021kg...89kg lighter than the 172. I thought he Trophy was 1,065kg but I'm not sure on that one.

Correct! Take it off if you want your lovely polished and waxed paintwork to permanently have really visible fingerprints all down the side of the door. This is also exactly why they fit an internal recess for pulling the boot closed. Same as the b-pillar trims...to protect the paintwork/keep...

By your own admission your fluid was not up to scratch, you boiled it, meaning your pedal pressure cold not reach the pads and discs effectively. Then you blame the pads for the poor braking performance? As said already, for mostly road use DS2500 are a bit over the top. I'm running Mintex...

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to detailing and paint correction/restoration at any level, but have always thought that putting a hard edged straight line anywhere on a panel during the process (at whatever stage) would ultimately leave some form of compromise in the pursuit of perfection...
