Yes, although I wouldn't recommend this method, just sit it on the path and hold the revs at about 3-4k rpm for about 3 minutes or so, that will help but isn't as effective as the other method.

I've also just tried removing all fuses and lightly sanding them to remove any surface dust or debris not sure whether this will help though.

Make sure you take the car for a good run before you take it to be re-tested as the cat can get blocked up very easily causing incorrect levels in the gas but taking it for a good run beforehand will clear it out.
Am i right in saying that you can have any writing on the bottom and whatever else on the plate and not get pulled for it but just swap back for MOT time or will you get pulled for having illegal plates??

Sounds like you've got a common Clio problem, mine has that too but it isn't as far gone as yours sounds.
Whenever I start mine up from cold it will almost certainly cut straight out unless I keep my foot on the accelerator but once I get going it's fine.

I get a rattle from which sounds like it comes from the glovebox well annoying dont know what it is.
Oh and no it's nothing thats in the glovebox thats rattling before someone suggests.
Ouch, I feel for you, same thing has happened to me in the past, the tracking was way off and the wheel was buckled so I took it to a local garage and was an easy fix (luckily) cost £50.
£25 of it was to do the tracking the rest was to replace a track rod end (I think) or something similar...
