I took the engine out when I did mine as I needed to access other parts, but I've had the subframe off with the engine in. The top engine mount is sitting on the body and the battery support above the gearbox is bolted in, so it won't go anywhere.
Not a massive job with the subframe off, just a few bolts at the bottom of the gearbox to remove, then the bolts out of the sump.
My BG sump was leaking in multiple places, including the crankshaft oil seal, but primarily from the corner near the starter.
Great opportunity to get it aqua...
Money is strong for a non cup 172 but the clean cars are fetching mad prices. i can’t see it flying out at that money, but I get the impression the seller isn’t in a rush to sell. I was surprised you never bought that Blue 182 in Scotland. The new owner’s on here and it looked a proper car. But...
I’ve seen this car in the flesh. It's just up the road from where I live (well 10 miles up the road). I didn’t chat to the owner as it was parked up at a retailer outlet, but I had a good glance around the outside and remember thinking wow, what a clean looking car. Obviously I know nothing...
I bought these because my virgin broadband got so bad it wouldn’t even connect to my smart tv in the other room. I can connect to it down the bottom of the garden now. Unreal bit of kit.
The parts/engine alone would fetch that. RBs are always priced above Blacks and more so over Silvers. There are some proper nails out there for £4,000.
To OP - get some proper detailed pictures of everything and put a post up with what you think it's worth. Go from there.
I guess you could fit one if that’s what you really wanted but it’s not really needed.
I ran one of these on my race car https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/401004958511?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=j2b836z-SD6&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=Unwx-nP3Rjy&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY. No...
You’re welcome although I owe you an apology, my mate, who smacked into the car, confirmed the pads he used were PBS 🙈 So I guess DS 1.11 are safe for the roads.
I've used Carbon Lorraine CL6 on the front before but found them too severe. Awesome stopping power, but more difficult to control compared to the DS 1.11.
Pagid 42s were more Linear but couldn't manage the heat as well so suffered brake fade. I never tried PBS but a mate has in his and he...
Quick story. Ring booked and we’re all meeting at a fuel station at 2am on the A19. I told one of the young lads not to fit his DS1.1 until he got to the ring. He set off from his house at 1am and made a quick fuel stop at the shell garage around the corner. He pulls up and smashes up the arse...
I want to change my car every month. The Clio’s are the only ones I’ve ever kept. 5 years of ownership is not in my DNA. I haven’t even finished my RB resto yet and I’m already thinking of flogging it or creating another track focussed version of it. I’m the guy who bought a £35,000 i30N, drove...
We're not seeing that tbh. Numbers are historically down (marginally), but that's offset by profitability which isn't a bad thing considering the new car situation and shortage of good used stock.
So you think it's just seasonal as opposed to them suddenly becoming thin on the ground? Around the time I was selling mine, the prices were rock bottom and weren't shifting at all.
Yes, that makes sense Richard. I'll probably make the RB a bit more track/road oriented once I get bored. The trouble with a pure race car is you need a trailer, 4x4, extra road tax, fuel and storage fees. Been there!
You've got to get that 182 restored fella. I did all of mine on the drive.
I think I'm just getting the itch for another race car and don't like the prices :ROFLMAO: Not bitter at all :ROFLMAO:
Nuts! I suppose asking is one thing, whether they get it is another. I had half the world after the BG and I only advertised the race car on Piston Heads Saturday morning and it was on a delivery truck by Sunday afternoon. Some of these cars are sticking mind, so maybe I'm being more realistic...
