You can buy just the shock yes. G-max and the like sell them on there own. Looking at maybe £100-150, but not 100% sure on the cost. I had 55mm drop springs on standard shocks for over a year and a half. Ride was low but very bouncy, also didnt handle all that well. Dave

Springs wouldnt break but it will reduce the life of the shocks.

You would be advised to uprate the shocks, but the springs will fit without new ones. The handling wont be amazing, and it will reduce the life of the shocks. :)
