Was the engine fully warmed up when you hit the limiter too early?
The limiter's lowered until your engine oil is up to temperature...which can take longer than the water temperature indicated by the guage in your dash.
Totally wrong in my opinion...
Braking is a skill, and is one of many things you have to master to be able to handle your car at the limit.
Replacing part of that ability with ABS would make for boring racing with no daring outbraking. Everyone, regardless of capability, would just mash...
Therin, Mr Blaze, lays the fundamental flaw in your argument...
The flaw is that your argument is based upon no-one being able to mimic an ABS system. Of course they can't do that, nor should they want to as has already been stated, a tyre regardless of vehicle or road conditions etc. is...
You've just described the K-Tec Stealth! I do 60 miles per day, 35 of which are motorway and it is more than bearable.
I live in a cul de sac in a little seaside village...and keeping revs low and throttle light, no one has ever even mentioned it. I asked my retired neighbour if it was a...
...with anticipation.
Off to see Magic Mike in a short while to fit my Yozzasport decat...I'm feeling all nervous and excited...like it's a first date or something :S
It's like when I've been away on holiday - driving back in the 1.6 Zetec Focus, all I can think of is "I need to drive my...
I've got a K-Tec Stealth fitted and cannot fault it.
Sound-wise it's more than bearable - little louder than standard when you want it to be quiet, but give it full load at high revs and it rasps and screams.
Perfect :D
I went from a 51 plate Mondeo V6 to a 172 Cup almost 3 years ago.
66K miles further down the line and it's the best, most irrational thing I've ever done...and I'm so glad I did.
I look forward to the drive in/home every day, and am always fighting the urge to just go out for a blast :D...
LOL I've never seen your face (it's your helmet, gets me every time).
Looking forward to burbles on the overrun - I'll have to get out and do another 0-100 clip to see if it's improved.
I've just unwrapped a Yozzasport decat
Tomorrow afternoon, and my date with Mikey big hands can't come soon enough.
I've already got a K-tec stealth fitted...with the decat as well, am I going to notice much difference?
Power/torque curve?
Noise?
OK...after the above speculation...here are the facts... ;)
Tyres give their best grip when they are slipping a little, and that applies to both cornering, acceleration and decceleration too (ever heard the term "slip-angle"?).
When braking, a tyre is giving it's most grip when it is...
I love Elise's - I'm a member of Lotus-on-Track so get to play with them on track every now and then.
A properly sorted decent spec one that's well driven gives me a very hard time.
Then you get some, like this one, that you can just reel in ;)
Performance wise, it's very close - you've...
Still on original tyres but they're trying to sting you for front discs and pads?
Tell them to go ahead with the work.
Tell them that you'll watch them while they do the work.
Tell them that you'll want to check the wear of the removed discs.
Tell them that if, as expected they are...
Well that's exactly what I'm hoping for from these.
I had DS2500's on my last track outing, and they were toast after less than two laps, good for day to day but not up to track work at all.
I'll be doing my best at Brands to cook these, but having said that, I'm braking a lot less these...
Splashed out a little and treated myself for the upcoming Brands day and fitted a set of Pagid Blue's at the weekend to get them nicely bedded in over the next two weeks.
First thoughts? Very surprised!
For such a race focussed pad, and with it's extreme operating temperature range I...
