Mine used to do the exact same a few years ago, it would flicker and then go off after driving in wet weather.
It's never done it again after I cleaned the engine bay fuse box and gave everything a spray with WD40 or ACF50.
Decent enough gains from 197 cams tbh.
421's need aftermarket ecu to run well, 438's are similar but can be timed using oem tool and run on stock ecu with a remap.
@Sprintboy guessing you want to know what the issue was?
The rack is moving a good 5-10mm side to side when turning. Something isn't quite tight enough.
Is the boot closing tight on the latch?
I know on the 172/182's you can adjust the latch.
If you push on the boot when it's closed, does it move at all?
You'd have been fine if the belts are being done soon.
It was more the point of if it hadn't been done for ages and it needed some taking out, it may as well have been drained fully.
