Of course it could be New-Car-Discount making excuses from having a bad time with all the cars needing to be delivered during September, sticking me at the bottom of their delivery list, and yours might not be delayed at all.
If its not, youre a lucky b@stard ;) !
Drink? That birthday bottle of Jack Daniels will be severly dented tonight I think!
The e-mail I got (from New-Car-Discount.com) referred to "Renault Clio 172s", so Im assuming it applies to both. Apparently production was supposed to have been starting this week, but now theyve delayed it by...
Gutted! Im off on holiday next week and the only thing that was keeping me sane was knowing that the week I get back Id have a shiny brand spanking new Cup parked outside.
Got an e-mail today saying that the Renault factory have bumped back 172/Cup production until 22 september so Ill not see...
Got the latest issue of Evo yesterday and there was a lengthy piece about the long term Cup theyve got.
The guy ended up likening it to a Lotus Cortina, such is its focus and driver appeal.
Im glad, it should do wonders for the residuals.
Sounds like good service.
Id really like to hear how they stand up to the track abuse...Ive got a day at Castle Combe early next year and may throw a set at the Cup if theyre any good.
Id heard somewhere that it gave around 180bhp, which sounded quite reasonable?
If 5bhp is all it gives, does it fill and flatten out the torque curve lower down?
For my Cup, all in, including full UK warranty, RAC et al (cause its a UK car), 12 months RFL and with nothing in the way of delivery/additional charges, its cost me £10,990 (though within two weeks of me ordering mine the price has risen to £11,400!).
The bit about them rectifying the problems gives me some relief...the fact that they need rectifying in the first place doesnt though!
The only thing I worry about is that the delivery driver rags it to within an inch of its life and by the time it gets to me the brakes are glazed and smoking...
Im waiting for a Cup...they said back end of September for delivery. Theyre currently waiting for the Renault factory to go back to work after their annual shutdown before being able to confirm delivery dates...I should get an e-mail confirming when to ecpect the Cup next week.
I did a bit of...
I couldnt agree more with you Mike H, at the end of the day, on real roads, in everyday conditions theres so much more that cpmes into play than straightforward bhp/ton.
Why did I go for the Cup over the 172? Comes down to cost, got it for £10,990 from New Car Discount. Couldnt get anywhere...
Ive not ordered climate on mine...I think Ive managed OK for the last 10 years without it...Ill manage for a few more.
EVO magazine is the exact reason Ive got one on order...if its good enough for them it cant be all bad!
Now, before I start let me just state for the record that to date, Ive never even sat in either of these, let alone driven them.
Right then, Ive got a Cup on order (should be with me by the 3rd week of September) and find myself continually trying to imagine what its going to be like. Having...
No covers on the Speedline Turinis on the Cup. From the pictures Ive seen it doesnt look like any of the bolts are "different" which would suggest one of them locked...
So far Ive picked up what I need to look out for when taking delivery of my Cup in September (soooo long to wait!)...missing splitter, "Cup 172" badges, tool-kit, tyre foam. Is there anything else that Renault forget on a regular basis?
Also, looking through the brochure, theres no mention of...
Jas
I have very close links with a promotional merchandise company who do badges, magnets, clips, enamels (like your current keyrings) and so on.
If you want to try an alternative mail me and Ill pass on their details.
I really couldnt care how a car looks...its how it drives, and how it rewards the driver that matters to me. I quite happily have a butt ugly rust bucket but if it drove like a 172 Cup, more fool anyone who wanted to have a go!
I can see that looks matter to a lot of people, and for younger...
Once...never again...almost went through the windscreen! My left leg/foot is so used to the sort of pressure need to depress the clutch, that getting the finesse needed to press the brake would take a lot of practice. Evo, in their "track car of the year" feature said that it helped when driving...
It matches the engine revs to the next gear. When youre accelerating the revs naturally fall between changes so that the engine matches the gear and road speed. When changing down, foot on the clutch, revs fall, change gear, clutch up, you get thrown forwards as the engine then has to spin up to...
Spaced for H&T?
Whats critical is not so much the space between the pedals, but the difference in height when youre braking hard. Ideally under hard braking I want the brake pedal to be 1/2 inch higher than the throttle, so that I can then roll my foot off to the right to give the engine a...
At what revs does the change light come? Is it constant or does it blink/flash? Is it in your line of sight if youre "making progress"?
I used to really enjoy getting my Pug 306 out of shape around motorway roundabouts, lift-off, the back steps out, and it tightened the line up nicely. So I...
This is killing me! Ive got to wait until the third week of September before I get my Cup, until then Im stuck in my overweight Mondeo, and to cap it all my friends just taken delivery of a Leon Cupra R.
The Cup...never sat in one, never even test driven a Clio, dont want to until mines...
...but I was sat in bed last night drooling over the Cup brochure (six weeks and counting before delivery!) and re-reading (for the 100th time) the Evo review where they pitted the Cup against the RS, when I saw in the specs that the Cup has "smart wipers". I know theyre not automatic as on the...
Hi All…first post here…bear with me on this…
First there was a Triumph Toledo (anyone remember them?). Absolutely knackered rear suspension with nothing in the way of damping meant at a standstill you could press the boot down and "bounce" the back wheels off the road. It taught me huge...
