I agree, having owned a 172, 182 and a 197 I think it's fair to say I have enough experience of the three to pass comment. I've also spent a fair amount of time out on the track with profesional tuition. The 197 from my personal experience is the quicker car, not particularly in a straight line...
Russ Bell organised an un-official meet in sunny Birmingham yesterday, so I thought I better tag along and take some pics...
Quick note for Russ...
Rules for organising at Photoshoot meet...
1- Know where your meet is
2- Know where you want to take photos
3- Bring a camera ;)...
Sure thing! That footage was from pretty late in the afternoon iirc, so my Conti's would have been pretty fucked by then lol.
I've got myself some more 197 wheels, so I'll get some 888's when my funds allow lol. :)
I have to agree too. I think people like the 172 because it gives you a greater sensation of speed, when it comes down to sheer on-edge driving thrills the 197 is much better, the 197 inspires driver confidence and can be driven harder thanks to better stability and brakes. My only complaint is...
Performance-wise the 197's get quicker with mileage, so give it death from new ;)
I'm convinced my lightly modded 197 is quicker than my 172 and 182 ever were!
Good vid, :)
Never driven Mallory, does look an awkward track in places to be fair! Can't wait to get out on the track again, but I think it's going to be a while as Bedford cost me a small fortune lol.
