Why is it rubbish?
It's called an opinion, I wanted to like it but compared to other cars I've owned it doesnt step up.
The seat was as low as possible ;)
I appreciate it's probably a good car on the limit, but it just lacked anything special at all driving it. Felt solid but just not like a...
Even at 7k? Just didnt seem all that to be honest.
So in that last 1k is where the car comes alive?!
Couldnt really wring it's neck with the salesman next to me, and the roads wernt the best in a car I didnt know.
I'll save you some time....don't ;)
Got a load of bad history with this garage being messed around a few years ago so im alwasy cautious.
Booked the test drive with a salesman who knows me last week, he wasnt there when i got there, so another guy was sorting me out. Asked for licence, then came back asking for counterpart...
Just had a go in a Clio 200 at my local Stealer, White, Speedlines, Cup chassis, unfortunately no Recaros :( Had done 7k so not a new engine.
Had a right ballache down there with the sales manager, but thats another story!
Got in, couldnt really get comfy. Couldnt get low enough, felt better...
He does mega miles for work and gets paid for his fuel, but wants an R32, so he did this!
Hmm, I could swear its the 1.9, thought they were 150bhp standard?
Either way it's not shy!
My standard 182 brakes were horrendous, had them almost on fire after a fairly hard drive, but not really pushing it.
Upgraded with brembo/ebc/ap fluid/new lines and they were good.
Not a patch on standard dc2 brakes though!
I have a crappy old combo van for day to day which is free other than fuel/insurance for me.
Works for me as my DC2 stays mint, and I dont worry about parking anywhere etc.
If you're considering it think of an old van, seriously. Run forever, cheap to buy, practical and decent on fuel.
Gave my mates car a going over by hand today. Due to PC it at some point when I get chance, but he needed it shiny for tomorrow.
It's a 230bhp 1.9 TDi with the full R32 kit etc, its amazing!!
Washed, fly remover'd, tar remover'd, clayed, washed, dried, SRP'd, ERP'd and Wax'd.
Few finished...
It's pretty easy dude
Jack the car up, put it on axle stands on the sills, then put the jack under the middle of the rear beam to take the weight of that. Remove the bolt which holds the rear shocks to the beam, then slowly lower the jack so the springs are uncompressed. Wind down 'x' amount...
Ah right, i thought you meant more bits being painted white!
It will be a proper bright fresh white.
Yeah, or I'll just make a new bracket that suits a bit better.
Gunmetal.....hmm never thought about that, but was thinking black would tie in with the carbon bits more....I dunno, I'll...
Powey, yeah I think they may be coming off. Depends on my final exhaust choice though, as might need to use the RHS one as mounting point for the bracket.
If it isnt needed for that they will be coming off, I don;t like taking pillions, makes such a difference to speed and a lot of...
Thanks.
I'll be having some subtle custom graphics made up for mine, nothing over the top but just to make it individual to me.
Got my eyes on a new exhaust as well if I can get it to fit, should hopefully look pretty good and something different. to the norm.
Just on the lookout for...
Bit more work today:
Safety first!
Stripped the rest of the front off, ready for the wheel off and the forks out. Rear wheel came off along with a few other small bits around the bike.
Loving the look of this for something to aim for. Maybe not the graphics, but liking the colour...
Lefty's suck in my opinion!
The cannondale is just a cheap 'road' bike I use for work sometimes etc, its comfy and light.
The orange Kona in the background is my abuse bike which is also in bits, need to strip it down and rebuild that, thats another winter project!
Decided to crack on with this project now.
Had my R6 Since April this year, first bike on the road at 20, been loving it :)
Since buying it I've done a full service, plugs, oil, filters, chain, sprockets, 2 new tyres, EBC brake pads, new battery and a few carbon fibre bits.
Been running sweet...
Does the rest of the unit look as though it will fit?
As Gray said, I'm pretty sure all of the MK2's have the same dimension for that part of the hub (?), never noticed any difference on any that I've lowered, are you sure they are the right set for a clio. Might be worth checking the part...
Just had a call from Meguiars, said it's out of warranty, but it's one of the dodgy batch they had, and because they can tell it hasn't been abused, they're sending out a brand spanker to me :D
Very pleased with the service.
Bear in mind an 05 plater will be coming up to Cambelt change time.
I think you'd be better looking for one with it already done, or budget on it in the price. Obviously when moving out the last thing you need is a 700 bill for car servicing!
Alternatively, cambelt on my Integra has been done...
