Mine never failed though, just crunched loads and it pissed me off as it was embaressing to drive. Gearbox from Renaul refurbed is £575ish at trade price!!!! Might as well fit a new clutch, £100ish and rest is labour.

Just buy it from Renault. I think effort wins over price.

172 will cost loads more to run than a 1.2 it's not all about it's value.

I recommend you buy some tyres.

Some 172s have cruise control, later ones 03 onward i think, all have trip computer, but i guess you mean MPG info etc.
