    Engine Oil Flush?

Trying to buy a house. The houses I can afford don’t have big enough garages and it’s a car that I’m not keeping outside. I’m trying to work out some way of keeping it as it forms a large chunk of the deposit

    Engine Oil Flush?

I had similar with my old Octavia vRS when I had that TerraCleaned. Soon developed an oil leak that no one could find. Must have been during the cleaning process it got rid of some crud that was plugging a small gap.

    Engine Oil Flush?

So you used the same weight deisel oil for a small amount of time to help clean it then removed it and used the 'correct' oil? A pressure gauge would be good, but don't want to be spending much money on it as it is meant to be for sale. Have ordered a pressure sensor from BMW so will get...

    Engine Oil Flush?

Yep, found the sensor I need and that so will check if it is leaking and the wiring. Doing more googling about it it is a poor placement of the sensor and the other end of the engine so does take time to read and most people are seeing the pressure light staying on for about 5 seconds. Will...

    Engine Oil Flush?

Semi Clio related-ish as it relates to engine care, but the oil pressure light on my E34 is slow to turn off when starting to the extent another warning appears saying oil is low but that then turns off after about 30-40sec of it starting. It was always been slow to turn the oil pressure light...

    Kit’s New Ph1 172

Few nice new parts fitted this past week. First up was the correct near side drive shaft. Pretty certain that is the cause of the humming/vibration with a bad CV joint. Also had front wheel bearings too. Now the car has had new front and rear wheel bearings, new wish bones, ball joints, track...

Blue Plug Crank Shaft Sensor in a Ph1 172

Put the new plug and loom on. Got it the wrong way round to start with (which was always going to happen). Fires up first time. For reference if anyone searches this in the future this is the way the wires go: Pink (new loom) to orange (car) Yellow (new loom) to white (car) was a genuine...

Blue Plug Crank Shaft Sensor in a Ph1 172

Sensor and loom has just turned up so will be fitting this on Sunday when I get a chance. Will try that trick before soldering it together. Hope it isn't a pain to get to solder to as I remember when I had my old Ph1 I took the old one off and cleaned it up and it was a faff to get at.

    172 helicopter rattle

Had this recently. I thought it could have been a non-round wheel. But on inspection I noticed the CV gaitor on the N/S was split so then thought that it could be a CV joint. Have got a new drive shaft in but not been able to test it as it is currently not starting as I am waiting to fit a crank...

Blue Plug Crank Shaft Sensor in a Ph1 172

Need to get a new crank shaft sensor as I think this is causing the starting and cutting out issues on my Ph1 172, or at least the first thing I am changing. Was going to get this sensor 8200647554 and the updated loom 8200673202 Now this is the updated sensor and loom - will this fit my Ph1...

    Cut out and won’t start

As per usual when the AA turned up it fired up first time. Piece of scrap that it is. He thought crank sensor too so that is going to be my first point of call to change

    Cut out and won’t start

tried that, doesn’t look like it has activated but have pressed it to see if it does anything. Thought that cut the fuel pump but I can hear that prime.

    Cut out and won’t start

When I go to start the car it starts than then just runs out of puff within 30secs and cuts out. Then it won’t start. Cranks all fine, immobiliser light off, fuel pump primes. I got the AA out the other day for it as I was a bit stuck, took about 20mins to turn up and it fired up first time. He...

    Detailing Chat & Questions Thread

Had the day off to clean the Skoda I picked up recently. Put in a large order at AMDetails the other day to sort it as I ran out of pretty much most things all at the same time. Do like to give any new car I get a proper deep clean . So I rinsed it, iron fall out, snow foam, rinse, wash...

    The PH1 172 Appreciation Thread.

My E34 needs to sell so I can get some funds to paint my Ph1 and get it finished. Then will be worthy of another post in here. But do I just get it painted titanium or change it to Odyssey? Seats being fitted next month then need to organise a wheel refurb too.

    Retro Rides Gathering 2021

I'm not doing the hill climb now, for the cost and doing it in a big red barge is not really worth it, although doing a hill climb is something I would like to do in the Clio. And yes, seeing a timetable there does appear to be a lot of waiting and I don't think the girlfriend would appreciate...

    Retro Rides Gathering 2021

Sure the last time I went I saw cars going up a few times. It isn't clear on the email or booking page. Not a member of the forum and there doesn't seem to be any questions on the track time thread there.

    Retro Rides Gathering 2021

Does anyone know what the deal with the track time? I've been short listed and about to order but it is £50. Is that £50 for one run or several runs? If it is for one run it is not worth it. If it is for 3 or more then yeah I can see it being worth while.

    Retro Rides Gathering 2021

I'm going in the E34, even applied to take it up the hill, eventhough my Ph1 qualifies for the pre-2001 rule and will be better suited to the hill climb! But where is the fun in that.

Nice little Clio ph 1 blue

I need to stop looking at threads like this and eBay 🤦‍♂️ there are very few things I would sell my E34 to fund or waste invest my savings with no thought as to where to store it, but this is one of them. Damn. I so should have bought that Odessey when I had a chance to many years ago. I am...

    Kit’s New Ph1 172

The interior has started to rattle like a mo fo. I knew the drivers door card had a rattle when stationary. But now the dash and something else is rattling 😫 sure it is the warm weather that has caused this. Damn thing.

    Kit’s New Ph1 172

MoT test this morning....passed first time! Was pleased with that. So treated it to a good wash as it hasn't been done for several weeks now So plans for it. I am like dragging my heels with it, mainly as I am having less time and it is the daily car. So I am now activley on the hunt for a...

    M140 Thread

I agree with this. Perfectly comfortable and fine when in normal mode then if you want turn it to sport and it firmed it right up, or it did it to my liking at least. If I were to have another I would go passive and then replace with Bilstein dampers. I also need to not read this thread. As I...

I drove mine through a flooded road once and didn't die. That was a funny trip - went to my friend's house, not been for a while and first time using this which had sat nav. Kit’s New Ph1 172

New driveshaft fitted along with fresh gear box oil. Will see if this cures the flat spot noise. Otherwise an excuse for new wheels. Also had Powerflex steering rack bushes fitted. Think the only bushes that are yet to be replaced are rear beam ones. Parts for the seats have all turned up...

Infinity Exhaust down on junction 16 of M4, not sure if you would class that as local as you are a bit further north than me. I've had 4 made from them over the years for various cars and they have all been bang on - tell them what you want, how loud, what tips you want. Lifetime warranty. Made...
