best way to get a small engined car fast is better brakes and suspension and strip it so it weighs as little as possible then the usual induction kit, decat and exhaust
expression is a 16v, authentique is a 8v (unless you get 8v expressions too? mine is a 16v though)
from the look of it the engine is completely standard so not that fast especially in a heavyer car with 17s to be honest if he wanted a turbo he would have been better going for a starlet gtt...

get a Pioneer Head unit mate, ive got a DEH-P8600MP (out of your price range) and its amazing! i also fitted a cheap pioneer unit to my cousins saxo (cost £60 or somthing from car audio direct) and even that sounded ok with the standard speakers.
