    removing and refitting discs

Torx screw holds em on . Can't remember the size off the top of my head , might be a 25 or 30 .Sometimes they feel like they are still stuck on after you've taken the screw out , it'll probably be rusted on , give a few hard hits with a hammer , or try with the screws undone and the caliper...

    172 quick enough

I agree with whats been said . You do ge used to it , some days it doesn't feel anything special speed wise , then others it seems to fly especially on b roads . The best time to appreciate how quick they are is after its been in for a service and you've had a little 1.2 Clio or even worse a...

    Onsite Warranty - Help

They don't have to replace it , not straight away anyway . The warranty will cover a repair . If it fails a 2nd time or 3rd or maybe even 4th then you can start to ask for a replacement as you have given them a reasonable amount of attempts to repair it .You can ask for a replacement but you'll...

    172 quick enough

Had my 182 for 6 months now , use it everyday , and i floor it everyday , most of the time tbh . I did the same with my 172 for 48k . No point having a car that will shift if your gonna drive like a granny imo .

    Rear disc & pad change

Yeah bearings are part of the discs . You can either get them pressed out and pressed back into the new discs or buy discs with the bearings already in . Heres a guide . You won't need the abs ring on your discs obviously with yours being a cup .The guide says a 30mm hub nut but thats on a...

Lumpy idle is a characteristic of the 172/182's mate .It should be 850rpm + or - 50rpm when warmed up .

Slightly worried bout my mate and his insurance!

If you've got mods declare em , otherwise if you need to claim you'll find your insurance is void so you'll have paid alot of money to the insurance company for nothing , you might as well not pay the insurance in the first place if your that stupid .

    Dead fly removal

I use a mix of shampoo and water , spray on the dried bugs and let them soften up and rehydrate while i spray my wheels and get the pressure washer ready . Then they usually come off no problem with the pressure washer , also like Karen says the back of the megs lambswool mitt with the mesh...

    Need New Front Brakes..

Having owned both 172 and 182's mate and driven 1.2's and 1.4's i can safely say that they do seem to brake better . As i said , its because they only have tiny little engines ;) so there's fcuk all weight to stop :rasp: I suggest you ask a grown up if you can have a go in one , thats if...

    Need New Front Brakes..

I've had a few courtesy cars , clio 1.2's , 1.4's and the brake always feel a bit sharper . I think its something to do with having alot less weight in the engine compared to the 172 / 182's .

    172/182 brake discs/pads

ooops sorry mate , didn't know it was you selling them .How come your selling em , have you gone for upgraded ones ? I guess if there's only 1/2 a mm wear on em they would be a good buy .

    172/182 brake discs/pads

Tbh mate i wouldn't touch second handbrake discs . The ebc ultimax pads are just standard replacement pads . I'd rather go for the greenstuff if i was buying any .

Help and Advice Needed - Car buying

Sounds alright the one you posted Maz . He's probably out raggin' the arse off it before he sells it , lol . Like ya say , cambelts been changed but i'd need to see a receipt to prove it .Private seller so i would try to get him down by at least £300 , always try and find a fault when viewing a...

Help and Advice Needed - Car buying

5th one down looks ok . Personally i wouldn't want to go much higher than 40k miles .Being from a trader and if he's paying cash i would think he might struggle to knock the price down , all depends how much profit margin the garage has to play with and if he's had in in stock for a long while ...

    Need New Front Brakes..

Can't you get somebody to give you a hand , changing the discs ( if they need doing which i very much doubt ) and pads is dead easy . Get a haynes manual , same principle for all discs and pads . I'd give ya a hand but your a few hundred miles away , lol .

Help and Advice Needed - Car buying

Tbh Maz you can take some of the descriptions with a pinch of salt . The seller wants to sell the car , wants people to view the car , so they won't usually list the bad points , dents , scratches , general wear and tear etc .... until you see them in the flesh then its hard to tell what the...

    Need New Front Brakes..

Get a vernier caliper on em mate . Minimum thickness for front discs is 21.8mm . No way should they be worn down after just 11k unless you've got something seriously wrong with your calipers . They are 24mm when new .Ask them why they need changing , how worn are they i.e what thickness they are...

'51 plate 172 just failed MOT.

When you get the rear brake discs , make sure they have the abs ring and already have the wheel bearing pressed in , or you'll have to get your old ones pressed out and put in the new discs . They are expensive where ever you buy them from , alot more than the front discs . Yozzasport is...

Help and Advice Needed - Car buying

Just on that page Maz ?? I'd go for the ph1 34k with the full service history .£3,995 and a private seller so i'd say you could get a good couple of hundred pounds off the asking price . Any traders at those prices would be pretty reluctant to drop the price imo .
