Thanks Russ and thanks for all the advice mate.
I ended up with a very good car, the guy had spent a lot of money on it recently, brakes, Haldex service, long life service, plugs and coil packs replaced, 2x tyres and a few other things. Only thing I want to do is change the Dsg oil even though...
Totally understandable mate. Buying a car that was 30k meant I had to use my head and bought this one over a worse condition Red one. Also there are 2 Red ones within a square mile of my house so mine is actually rare!
I'm very happy with it mate. It's so so much car for the money. I failed to...
They are 18's. :( I love OEM mate, i'd only change for BBS.
It's semi auto, I just drive about because race car using the paddle shift, it really is a genius box, the upshifts and down s***s are incredible in manual mode. Auto mode is a dream and sports mode is very good.
Oh yeah, tey're...
You never read all the thread. Red ones were all pants unless yo want to pay 6k to get half decent miles! Condition was more important than colour, especially considering I loved this colour anyway.
Oh and DSG is waaaay better for me, just took ages to realise! I'll struggle to go back to a...
Hi chaps! Some shots of the new steed. Popped down to Gatwick last Thursday with the Boss and picked it up, so far after a week... i'm loving it. It's suits my needs and wants in a car to a tee. And the noise, it sounds like a proper car with a proper engine!
A massive thanks to Ant and Rob (of...
They are awesome. Of course put some poorboys on them but I would leave them off until I got the right sealant. So much easier to do and they'll be protected for so long!
Personally I wouldn't bother with anything unless it's a ceramic sealant mate. They will just fade after a few weeks of heavy braking.
Get something like Gtechniq C5 or Cquartz sealant aftre they are refurbed.
It actually looks like it's been badly painted mate. Scratches from the prep stage and etching from the rain or contamination.
It's definitely etching. Probably acid rain on uncured lacquer or weak lacquer. Wet sanding and polishing would help but even then it needs painted or wrapped imo.
I did it with nanolex ultra last night! :o Not sure what the f**k went wrong, was ready to get the compound out! Applied another layer and then it came off a treat.
Think it was the low temps in the garage.
Re: The Stupid Car Cleaning/Detailing Questions Thread..
Not really. The likes of Bos should actually be preceeded with Shield. Most people use Z2 though.
Waxes will bond to sealants just fine, providing it's done right. Just like Z2 bonds to Amigo or any glaze bonds to a wax/sealant if done...
Re: The Stupid Car Cleaning/Detailing Questions Thread..
Sort of what Dave is saying. Z2 is a stunning base product for the likes of BOS and R222's or pinnacle. Waxes which look immense but simply don't last. Luckily the likes of Z2 have great durability if bonded to the paint right. I see 6...
Re: The Stupid Car Cleaning/Detailing Questions Thread..
Yeah, be reet mate. Make sure the car is clayed to remove any leftovers just incase. But polishing will remove anything else.
Sort of. I use Zaino Z2 as a base for summer waxes mate. :) Usually wait 24 hours on the sealant totally...
Nice offer to entice people in. I couldn't be without my Sky Sports tbh! Although during the summer it's never really on apart from some Golf, SSN and the F1.
Thanks for all the help chaps. Should be here in the next couple of days. :)
There are probably a hundred more questions but that'll do for now!
I'll order up a nice sleeve for it just now.
Hmmm I see it as LP mk2 with no drawbacks tbh. Correction and filling via machine definitely outstrips hand application. Maybe try working it more like a polish?
R222's is actually the new name of P21's mate. Very confusing I know! P21's hasn't been used for years.
Best on light colours mate. Quick filler heavy and great at stripping dirt. R222's are sold by Polished Bliss and Clean your car now. :)
Tough prep will be good Raceglaze is pants. :)
