The rear lines you chnage are further along the sytem there not the onesright by the caliper. Follow the lines back and you'll see where the second set of pipes if etc.

I'vbe got the ECU plug outs for the Phase 1 172 and the Haynes has the wiring for the Valver I belive. I think the Haynes for the phase 1 Mk2 has the wiring diagrams as well but since its not the stupid UCH system its easy to work on anyway.

No you can use 195/50 just they catch on the rear arch liners a bit on stock offset wheels. If you do use 195/50 just idealy cut the rear screw bit that holds the rear ach liner on off.

The gearstick movment is down to the bogbone mount as this is the one which takes the abuse.

Just buy a good decinet sized Halfrods tool kit saying you won't use say 1/2 inch bolts (cars french remember so its all metric) isn't applicable as rusted nuts etc means other sized sockets can somtimes fit better.

You can have the valve turned off if you have it remaped custom wise. Bypassing the valves not a good idea they system uses it at low rpm.
