In recent years we've seen a steady rise in the prices of all clean Clio 1*2's, but most notably the 172 Cup. Just earlier this year a Cup on 50k miles sold for north of £8k.
What's fascinating is that this always seems to split the forum in half, with some welcoming a rise in prices and others...
I was chucked the keys for a week to a Stage 3 Golf R. 530bhp. The car handled it well, me on the other hand... can't really enjoy or explore that level of power safely on a public road.
Loads of us run low boost these days, some high-boost, but what about those with more?
I came across this and it got me thinking: https://www.instagram.com/cliofu/ - seems like it's being built for big numbers.
300/350 seems common for high boost. How many big power (400+) Clio's are on here...
Cool videos. Always good to see more Clio content on YouTube. I have subbed. I'm also on there too, but hoping to create videos on all sorts of cars: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsKEDJYNOoNkzwDucs_7LiQ?view_as=subscriber
The underside of the car is now done. The second part video won't be quite what I was expecting, as it was challenging enough to do the work, let alone film it all. Below are a few photos. Would take forever to list all of the parts, but everything is pretty much new right up to the new discs...
ED fitted a Helix Organic Clutch to my car due to
It being road use only. The biting point is very much on and off as you describe. Anyone that hops in for a drive stalls it pretty much straight away, but you do get used to it!
My car is only 230bhp/lb-ft for reference, and my stock clutch went...
Hi all, anyone able to help. Going to have to order some new lines for the sections marked in red. Does anyone know the size of the fittings on both ends and the type of fitting?
I’ll be using BRTMotorsports custom line builder. Cheers, Chris
After taking off the rear beam I am presented with quite a bit of corrosion. Something I was expecting, but perhaps not to this level. My plan is to wire wheel off as much as possible, before treating with Bilt Hamber Deox and then finally using Electrox as a primer.
What are the options for...
As promised, here's my YouTube for anyone bored enough to take a look: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsKEDJYNOoNkzwDucs_7LiQ/
Criticism is welcome. Still trying to find my feet with this, but I'm really enjoying editing videos at the moment that are not work-related.
KTEC often have them on their website, but they are often in and out of stock. Might be worth emailing them or keep an eye out for a second hand one!
When you put it like that... agreed.
Fitted a new splitter yesterday. It’s a KTEC carbon fibre splitter but exactly the same shape as the genuine one that Renault want extortionate amounts for.
Not a fan of the carbon fibre as doesn’t really go with the OEM look I want. So sprayed it Matt black.
Hopefully this one holds up on the...
I know the guy who purchased the recent 172 Cup for £8,500. I’m going to take a look at it tomorrow. He paid less than what he was willing to pay too. Take from that what you will, but I’m willing to bet OP’s car should be £10k minimum and that someone will pay it too.
Some more progress on the rear beam refurb. This will actually be the easiest part. The real pain will be getting the current one off and the underside cleaned and rust treated before this one goes back on.
Primed and sprayed black with a can, so I’m really happy with the results. Took hours of...
Plenty of time being spent on the Cup at the moment without much to do at the weekends. Finally getting round to things I've wanted to do for a long time.
Picked up a rear beam to start rebuilding and refurbing. Removed the whiteline rear arb for refurbishment. Got to wonder if this car was...
Yes that’s pretty much it, as far as I’m aware the rest of the system is identical except for the tip is slightly shorter and bends 90 degrees to point towards the floor. Based on that, that's a pretty good idea @Dr Jekyll
It’s been a few months. Not a lot to report on, but some plans moving forward. I’m considering getting a stealth exhaust as I’ve got a spare OEM cup bumper. Does anyone know if this will restrict flow and impact performance?
Also, what are people’s thoughts on the original badges? Not really...
I’ve had my Cup low boosted with the ED kit for what seems like years. Maybe 4/5 now. The AEM piggy back ECU developed a fault at some point, so needed replacing although ED were helpful. It also needed an uprated clutch after 10k as the standard one which had covered 100k+ had given up at that...
Thank you! Just the look I was going for.
Thanks mate, couldn’t be happier with it it!
I took it to Rusthall Coachworks. Really good customer service and the quality of work is brilliant
The car is back from the paint shop, and I have sills again! exciting times.
It's also just passed it's MOT with no advisories so super happy with that.
Spent today giving it a clean after taking it out properly yesterday for the first time since August. Drives brilliantly with the fresh...
Clean, OEM, low mileage 1*2’s of any variant will fetch good money in ‘the future’, but the amount you’ll spend just to keep it working, serviced, looked after etc... it’s just not worth worrying about IMO.
Cup tax is a real thing. It will sell eventually, and when it does CS will move on to the next “overly priced” car, completely forgetting this one of course. Rinse and repeat.
