i also wouldn't pay over 2 grand for a piece of paper so they say i can drive said car.... most i've paid is £1200 i think and thats to much..
if you can get to it and remove it then yes its easy to do... get a kettle, boil water, drop the bell end of the stat into the water and see that it opens.. if it does its ok, if it only opens a little its poop, if it doesnt open it might be that its feck or the waters to cold, in which case...

if the 1.8 16v engine needed an oil cooler, Renault would have fitted one themselves.. :quiet: that said if he gets a nice cooler with stat it will bring the engines oil temp up quicker than a standard car would + keep it at its...
without seeiing the car no one will be able to help you with this one.. if you find the car doing this outside your house, do the wiggle test. its a test where you wiggle every plug, wire, pipe, earth point etc and see if your revs drop..
its a pretty complicated test and only a trained...
things stopping and started sound like loose wires or broken sensors.. the beauty of taking it to a garage is they fix the one fault and give it back.. if you keep buying parts till you hope to hit the fault, your in for an expensive one...
most whizzing or speed changing via revs are often bearings of some sort.. get a piece of tube and stick it in your ear while a mate brings the revs up.. poke the other end of your tube around the engine till the noise it at it loudest and you may have located the area of your problem..

an oil cooler will be the least of your worrys and if there were ANY major problems with you oil the engine would be totally fecked already.. you want an oil cooler more than you need it.. i bought a 10 row oil cooler for my r5gtt because i wanted it, not because i needed it... it looks cool in...
once the cars running get a multi meter and check the alternator as said above.. replacing its an expensive way to test it and if its your alterator you'll be back out spending another ton ontop
you need a deep socket with the rubber grip in or you wont be able to pick up the plug if its between the cams.. when refitting be careful not to crossthread the holes or you'll feck em.. wind the new ones in gently with the ratchet till it stops, if its at the end of its travel and not caught...
get the smaller engine one as both are slow and its better to save a few quid where you can... i wish i didn't waste so much money on my first car and insuring it... i wish i was out spending that money getting wasted meeting girls and using my rifle...
ive had a few kennys and stuck with them due to the hype and the fack there one of the big names... i've since had a bash at a few different makes and i think kenwoods are one of the worst out there.. the kenny mask units are good looking but rubbish back to back with other modals out there...
why waste any time and money on neons, thats good beer money or even petrol money.. better yet, buy a girl a few beers and drive her home to bugger her..
or get neons
i've found the headunits are turd and the first thing that should go.. im talking about 15 year old cars and haven't had the chance to compare a newer headunit to old...
i simple added a new head unit and you can instantly get the stereo louder before they distort.. aftermarker speakers are...
i used to have kenwoods but never managed to get them set up as they were to high pitched for me and they didn't control the sub very well.. borrowed a mates pioneer and it was pukka and i managed to get a very nice set up with it..
his car sounded better than mine with a simple sub & standard...

many breakers are on the web and you can post a wanted and the email goes to all of them and they get back to you with what your want and what they have.. have a bash...

i didnt even notice they were there.. i thought the car had rain sensitive wipers and auto lights but am yet to see them work.. perhaps i've been hitting the crack pipe to often
it doesnt matter what car it is it'll go wrong and it'll cost.. as said you've replaced a few or teh worst things so at least there done and wont bite you in the ar5e for a while..
try and save yourself some money with the car by doing some jobs yourself, if its not got a full service history...
nice, a mate of mine has got himself a 3 litre clubsport and thats made my mind up that i will bag myself a nice beemer in the next few years..

its one of them things that some people get away with not having and some dont.. mines not working at the minute yet i dont have any starting problems until i have a car full and then i end up looking a right tit as it ticks over and bellows smoke..:o

most people think there were a few more problems as many people including myself have had a perc burn out and it went nothing like that.. i also left it burning to see if it would pick up but got bored waiting..

a lad i used to hang around with bough one for a first car.. he was a year into his training at Merc and wasn't short a a few quid so bough himself a boggo standard 5 for about £1500.. the insurance was £1800 if i remember right:S he never really went mad when driving it and wasn't a cnut like...
the r5 is a great car on the track as shown by the old R5 cup cars with a pretty standard set up.. if you want to mess with things they can be even better and show up many a newer car..
