Booked my car in for its 60mm lowering sesh!

^ Cool I thought I did. If Fk's are really firm it seems my best option is to go with the adjustable Spax kit then?

Booked my car in for its 60mm lowering sesh!

Right just read through loads of pages regarding lowering and there are really mixed opinions. Above the Apex were recommended, but I've since been told there are too harsh a ride in terms of being too hard. The Spax kit I was after seems expensive for what it is, but it is adjustable...

Electric Window - *BANG* and the control was gone.

I had the same propblem at the start of the year, it is the runner mechanism. Cost me over £200 to get fixed too. I was told its made of plastic and when it gets hot it gets brittle and in the end just snaps.

Booked my car in for its 60mm lowering sesh!

Cheers Mate, Very tempted, more for seeing how they'd be fitted rather than the actual cost of fitting as I know the petrol costs would be over £50 lol! I'll let you know mate, thanks.

Booked my car in for its 60mm lowering sesh!

^ ok, straight up reply ........ NO! If I was a mechanic I'd fit them, i'm not so I'll leave them to the people that do it for a living. You must have a decent level of practical skills to attempt anything yourself and I don't, not through lack of trying though.

Booked my car in for its 60mm lowering sesh!

Looks like I'll be giving Mike Stokes a call in the morning. Just found the Apex Sport kit 60mm for £256.09 inc vat & posted. How long should these take to fit, MS where charging £100 which is about 2 hours labour. http://www.venommotorsport.com/shop/index.html

    Tesco Insurance - Great Service

Its cool, my policy is up for renewel next month so hoping it will go down a bit more again. I guess it depends on if you have declared all mods and whether they class them as modifications or whether they just add them to the notes as with the rear lights I'm after.

Damn!! Did you have the shocks with the krypton gas in them?? I know the guys at Mikestokes quite well and they have always been honest with me in the past. I do remember asking a while back about which spring/shock kit to get and was always told buggar them and get coil overs but I really...

Booked my car in for its 60mm lowering sesh!

Cheers Fred, but they don't do them for my model. Mine has the 58mm spacings. Its a 2001 MK2 Ph1 1.4 16v Alize. My preference would have been Eibach, but again they don't do 60mm kits.

    Tesco Insurance - Great Service

I'm paying about £460 FC with protected no claims and breakdown cover with all mods declared. I've got full NCB though, but do have 3 points and accident history. I was with Adrian Flux last year, but Tesco came out cheaper with a lower XS

Booked my car in for its 60mm lowering sesh!

Yeah, Dave quoted about £440 fitted for the Apex kit. I've heard that the Spax PSV kit is better too and that the Apex is too stiff?

Which ones??? I may do, but I'm more likely be selling these shortly, if I can get the tinted ones I'm after.

Booked my car in for its 60mm lowering sesh!

Exactly!! I had hoped to get springs and shocks fitted for nearer the £400 mark as £500 was my absolute limit, hence why I'm not getting coilovers. The problem I had was finding shocks and springs that lowered up to 60mm as most were 35-40.

    Tesco Insurance - Great Service

I called tesco today to mention about my wheel change and get a quote on the lowering. They told me that they only insure cars with up to 6 modifications, as over that they class the car as high performance. They said I would need to remove one of my modifications and then they would let me...

FINALLY fitted Day's old 172 bumper!!

I was lucky the guy was at the desk when i went in, he was really helpful though as I asked for the MK1 172 rear arches and he asked for my reg number and I thought here we go again, i don't have a 172, but he was excellent and found it in a few mins anyway. I honestly think they are better...
