I always check mine via dipstick but where on the dash does it show oil level?? :S
Do we mean when we start the car and it say "oil ok" or is there summin else?

Thats not good about the car but tbh as with my past Renault engines and even current sometimes they make odd noises and then the next day...

I had a few tussles a few weeks back from rolling first but was in slight mist so wernt too happy takin it to the higher speeds that he was willing to go, nevertheless didnt have a problem pulling from the start...

I decided against going for the standard route and instead picked up a BMC to replace it. Well all i can say is after fitting it yesterday im so glad i did it and cant believe iv gone...

On topic i used to swear by it until i put a tank of Optimax one day and havnt looked back sinec, doesnt only give better economy, the car runs much better on it i find!!!
