well i have bikes in my blood and a friend gave me a project and after 2 months of tinkering and lots of £££ here is my masterpiece. I've had the engine bored out to 175cc, bigger carb and filter, performance exhaust, oil cooler and lots of chrome. She goes like a rocket and wheelies...
well i found that you have to have either a show cage or full weld in cage. being that i use the rear seats often I went for the k-tec cage and it's fine. weld in cage is very restrictive but worth it if your building a track only car.
£1-300 for engine but good little runners. wouldn't buy a car with that damage. means the owner has really not cared for the car. by letting it get low on oil or not regular servicing.
no throttle problems to date. has been remapped with 182 superchips. i pulled the throttle assembly apart to check it's contact points. did a minor adjustment without upsetting the idle.
seems to work well. also removed the floor pedal stop and thread which doesn't allow you to 'put the pedal...
belt could be losing tension(loose tensioner) which will bring up the light.
had this at a trackday on a clio 172 cup. check the belt tension. other than that???
so far fred I've had no hassle with hot starting ie. long runs or pitlane starting. I know some clio's suffer starting issues, whether it's the dinky starter motor or if you've got a highly tuned engine then you may suffer some kind of starting hassle.
Put it down to being renault.
