You can re-engineer a original rear beam to convert it to independent rear quite easily mate. I've looked at doing it on mine ages ago.

When I fitted my Yanoo stiff shift I managed to do it leaving the decat pipe in place, so in theory you can do the same leaving the cat in place. You just need to loosen the cat to manifold bolts so you can pull it down enough to give you the access. It's tight though and expect grazed knuckles...

Do you have a cage? A lot of track day organisers won't let you run slicks without one mate. Just a heads up for if you haven't.

I'm sure I've read somewhere that the cups had less servo assistance. Something to do with the pedal feel. I'll see if I can find out as it may of course be total bullshit.

What rear dampers are you running? If it's standard they may well be fooked.

Now that is really intriguing!! You running the compensator valve? The rear brakes on mine are really strong for a cup.

The hole furthest away will be the soft setting and the other will make it stiffer mate. I don't have a rear arb so couldn't tell you what the driving feel is though. I'd try it on the stiff though as it'll help reduce understeer. It will increase the chances of oversteer though.

It's always hard when your just starting to learn to drive on track/push on and you get these moments I find. Knocks the confidence until your comfortable that you'll know how to react if it happens again.

To fit the 197 head onto a 1*2 block you need to drill and tap the cylinder head to accept an idler pulley like the 1*2 has. The 197 has the water pump driven by the cambelt so it's not there. If you fit the 197 head onto a 1*2 block you'll end up with lower compression so you'd need the 197...
