Had a crack against the new FR. I drove past it quite convincingly as we came off a slip road. Never had a go with a 225 but a mate had a 150 Cupra TDI and that wasn't much of a challenge either.

I really hate Irish plates though. Anything with a Z in just shouts chav in an E36 318i with a pikey personalised plate. Just a pet hate and your plate looks standard so i'm guessing you're actually in Ireland.
40 mpg just isn't possible IMO if you're giving even 25%.
35 is easily doable though and as Danny has said, you don't need to beat it to death to get it to move. Keep it beetween 2 and 4k in every gear and that should be ample for town driving and will still see progress made, especially if...
