Change the HU first and see how you get on. No point changing the speakers first, it's the same crap OEM amp driving them, they will sound near enough the same.
Best thing to do IMO/IME is put a subtle sub in the boot, lose the low freqs to the door speakers and away you go. You'll never...

Sub in the boot. Cut the LFq to the front speakers and they'll come to life !

What's wrong with the Hankooks ?
From what people have said, the sidewalls are to soft in 15" ... They are fab in the rain though :)
They look tiny .. silly fat mk3's .. need spacing out as a minimum !
I would probably run them for a bit, find some new wheels or one more to match your old set then bung these on eBay.
