Spring rates - Fast road and track days

I'm looking to upgrade my Koni + Cooksport combo. Its a brilliant all round setup so I'm a very wary of replacing them and then not like the ride on the road. I could do with some height adjustment now as I've taken a lot of weight out of the front of the car so it sits quite high. If I was...

    Coilover choice advice

I think the Avo are non coilover rear. Also I'm not sure if they're available with 60mm spacing, same with the BCs. Gaz are non coilover rear. The H&R and Bilstein lack damping adjustment. Wouldn't touch the Spax or Ktec's rebranded price hiked Spax. That leaves AST!

thoughts on Gaz coilover kit for 172?

I've had Gaz before. They did the job, and did it well for the money. Not much else out there for the same money with height and damping adjustment that work well unless you can get a cheap set of FK Konigsports or similar. My only qualm with the Gaz was the corrosion protection may as well...

    ITB'd Road & Track Ph1 Titanium 172

Cheers guys, well my wife had got me a voucher for Javelin so I used it to book Anglesey on the 16th. It'll be nice to get out on track again, just over a week to go! :race:

172 Cup - Cammed, high compression

I'd just get it on some decent suspension to start with, renew any bushes and steering bits. Then see about ITBs if you want an extra 25bhp or so. I'd expect you to make around 210bhp with the current spec and ITBs

    Scott's Super Clean PH1 172 Project Thread

Subframe needs attention ;) Once you get the head back and bolt all the bits on it'll just need a remap won't it and then it should be ready for summer?

    Kit's Ph1 172

I'd just invest in decent suspension, renew all the bushes and take as much weight out as possible. Its cheaper than trying to get more power.

Cooksport springs and Cup shocks VS Coilovers for a daily driver advice?

Ideally you should have cup shocks for the extra damping to go with the stiffer springs.

    New rims?!

The lightest pro race wheel is 73.1mm centre, 5 stud offset of ET45 and plain black. They're 6.2kg. I've got one less stud, an extra 10mm offset and they're silver so extra paint of top of the black. I'm tempted to get some slicks on the Hockenheims...or maybe some cheap Rainsport 3 for road...

    New rims?!

If you have book figures they vary on offset, centre bore, number of studs and even the colour! I used calibrated scales so I'd question other figures rather than my own.

    New rims?!

I weighed them on the weekend, 0.5kg per wheel. Both sets are lighter than the standard F1s. OZ F1 7.7kg Hockenheims 7.2kg Pro Race 6.7kg

Drive in drive out turbo conversion

tbf both graphs look good! One would give you more midrange due to the way its setup. For an inexpensive and effective road car setup that would be a great choice. The more linear one would be better on track and the one I'd go for because I prefer a linear curve. You could do that with either...

Koni yellows with cooksports gets my vote. Epic handling.

    New rims?!

This is how it sits on the existing Pro Race 1.2s. I've only had them 6 months and a friend has these hockenheims spare. Always had a soft spot for them. What are your opinions? Might look better 'shopped properly with the same wheels front and back with tyres but my MS Paint skills don't...

Cooksport springs and Cup shocks VS Coilovers for a daily driver advice?

It's ok, I see what you mean :) It was astounding that on the road it felt more compliant but on track there was noticbly less roll. Of course being able to tweak the damping helps with that. I suppose if you consider the cost of Cooksports + Konis you could get Konigsport coilovers for the...
