    Another North Weald Meet: 17.03.2012

    Wanting a softer ride.....recommendations please

Don't come back complaining when it's exactly the same after you've just swapped lowering springs for lowering springs then :rasp:

    Wanting a softer ride.....recommendations please

Possibly knackered the shocks having shorter springs on it, which is why it's not the best idea to just do lowering springs. Going back to stock is probably softest/nicest... If you want lowz, Koni adjustable dampers + Eibach Sport/Prolines should do you. If budget allows, decent coilovers.

    Putting a 1.6 engine in clio 1.2, 2002.

I'm guessing the engine costs £144 ? But f**king LOL at 2800 for insurance. Buying my car and a years insurance is less than that!!

    Putting a 1.6 engine in clio 1.2, 2002.

You can't afford to run a 1,6 so you're going to turn yours into a 1.6 and presumably not declare it? Are you doing the spannering yourself ?

    Putting a 1.6 engine in clio 1.2, 2002.

First question to ask yourself is why....?

    Little tidy up

Sell it and just drive the Vee for goodness sake :rasp:
  11. TheEvilGiraffe

    Little tidy up

Coilovers FTW. Springs FTL (unless you put Koni adjustable dampers on too....) Get with a decent insurer then... Greenlight or Sky. :S

The "Ive taken a pic and I kinda like it" thread

HA Try getting more things in the shot. I don't personally like trails only shots unless it's very clever (I'm a pedantic fusspot...). What's the large violin in aid of !? :rasp:

The "Ive taken a pic and I kinda like it" thread

I'd guess at about 150-200 30sec shots, f/low (lens dependant! lets guess at 2.8), ISO 200 (because you're a Nikon IIRC?), focus @ infinity.
  16. TheEvilGiraffe

Ever see something and wish you had that idea...

Excellent shots .. saw something similar with white Tigers a few years back ! That's properly terrifying !!
  17. TheEvilGiraffe

    Little tidy up

Get a reputable company to pop a centre silencer in there for you to shut it the hell up....?

The Pre and Post Photoshop thread....

I try to get stuff right in the camera ;) How about a bit more explanation with your shot, Scott ? Showing before and after is great but it doesn't mean anything to me. I've no idea if you've pressed a button in PS and it's done that or you've spent an entire evening buggering about with...

SnowFoam (magifoam seems to be talked about a lot right now) FTW ! :approve: That thing will be ok for spreading suds about but not sure it'll do much more than that. :S *awaits to be proven wrong by people who actually clean their cars*

My car what do people reckon would be a good choice of modifications to make?

Welcome ! Where you from ? I'd just leave the car alone TBH. Your insurance will probably rape you for any modifications anyway. Enjoy it, keep it between the ditches and try not to become a statistic !

    clio doesnt have rear speakers

I'd be amazed if your head unit had 5.1 output :rasp: Most of the noises come from the centre and then the fronts in a 5.1 system anyway and the rears just do background noise of things that are behind you if you were on set ;) It'll just be the same stuff repeated at the rear, with the treble...
  25. TheEvilGiraffe

    clio doesnt have rear speakers

With the greatest respect - Why would you bother ? You've essentially got a set of components up front... You don't watch your TV facing the other way !? Why would you want sound coming from behind you...

Car has just broke its self :(

Find a 306 TD for £500. Grp 5 insurance. Job done.

    Handling

Fair enough! Koni adjustable shocks and springs, or decent coilovers .. do a search for the Koni setup, they're rated well normally but I can't remember what springs ate recommended.
  28. TheEvilGiraffe

    Handling

Yes, hundreds of people ;) Have a search about on here... Things to check in order: Tyre pressures. Tyre condition. Tyre quality (i.e.: replace budgets!) Rear shocks - leaking. Geometry.
  29. TheEvilGiraffe

    Strange wobble on bend...

32 psi is far too high. 31/29 or 30/28 IIRC ? Check the manual. Are they decent grade A tyres, or something awful like 'INFINITY' hero spec cheap crap chinese rubber worth 20p ? Check the rear shocks for leaks.
