hi, was looking to change a head gasket on a valver. it hasnt gone, but is on its way out. I was thinking you could just take the head off and replace the gasket/seals/cam belt/head bolts and put the head back on. maybe even skim the head. But looking through the haynes manual, it says...

Well, im coming up to renew my policy, but as someone crashed into me and wrote my car off im looking to change to a valver. Now, i can get a quote for £975 on my own insurance, thats at 20 with 1yr experience and 1yr ncb. However, as soon as i tell them ive had 2 non fault accidents...

are they meant to be on the drivers side? i.e the drive looks down on them? or is that just a coincidence/flaw of LHD/RHD conversions

last time i spoke with the police they said they were unable to verify who was riding the bike :( I suppose i need to call them again.. get them to visit the owner and beat the answer out of him (either he knows, or it was 'stolen') why can't they just do this anyway! the 5-0 gave me a VRN...

not much of an update really. The second claim is not doing much as i suspect they are waiting to see if the first accident writes off my car, making any repairs pointless. However, my insurance company have had difficulty tracing the owner of the bike as its not showing up on any insurance...

looks a quality job all the valvers im currently looking at have arch problems, nice to know its fairly easy to fix (i.e.. give it to someone else ;))

bell want 975 out of me that with my mum as a named driver (assuming yours was your own policy too) it will probably be closer to 1100 by the time my current insurance sorts itself out (got 2 non fault accidents in 1 week :() this is in a fairly good postcode (AL7 1QF) and kept on the street...

very nice... :) well im still waiting for insurance to either repair my car or confirm it as a write off. im fairly sure it'll be written off. sad way for it to go, but if i can get a better car then i will. Will probably buy back the salvage and repair it myself :) Things should move fairly...

thanks for the advice Chris_H :) i'm not afraid to get my hands dirty, and if things need fixing/replacing im more than willing to do them :) Pat, looks a minter, but might be over budget ;)

mum got it through today :) had a quick read of it, the usual Renault are great spiel but a nice read non the less oh, and pretty pics of the 197! :D

my 1.8rt does 0.6 in just over nine - crude stop watch timing, but averaged over a few runs! and ive had it at 120 with some give in it still.... so not sure how accurate those figures are but then mines apparently RSi spec, which means i could have the RSi 'box... .... apparently.

ok ok ;) what are the running costs like on them? how reliable are they? i don't mind getting my hands dirty... but i dont want a car that just wont start one day because the sun came up at the wrong angle
