Probably one for the racing forum, but the 200bhp one is a fair bit heavier than the 172. The 1/4 mile times Ive seen for them are in the mid 15s. Nothing mind-blowing. Had a race with an FTO (no idea which type though) just the other day and gained on him so easily it almost wasnt fair.
Dont think that disconnecting the VVT did turn the light on actually. Try disconnecting it on this car and see if makes a difference. If no difference than I guess youve found the problem.
Capt. Slarty showed me where it was. If i remember right, its on the left side of the inlet manifold as...
Carlos, you didnt buy it from a bloke called dickpearceuk who was claiming that it was a GPS device by any chance? If you did, he was a w**ker, but you got it for a great price!
No, the EBD and ESP are different things. Im no expert, but my MK2 172 didnt have ESP. Def. not as I actually wanted it, but it wasnt brought in until a couple of months after i bought mine.

The subaru blue is gorgeous. Thats where my vote goes. Someone on here has there kitted up Clio in that colour. Have a search for it to see the colour on a valver.
Mines does too, but the engine is running fine. I just keep feeding it. In fact, since i started using Halfords own fully synth stuff, its stopped sounding like a tractor in the morning. Still uses oil up though
Isnt there meant to be some problem with the VVT on some 172s? PM C1BA and ask him for info on this as he seems to know something about it. Think its something like a faulty VVT switch not activating.
I also remember Capt. Slarty disconnecting the electronics for the VVT and finding that it...
My key was really stiff in the boot due to lack of use, seizing up. Sprayed some WD40 in and gently moved the key back and forward until it opened. Worth a try Id say!
Craggy ran 15.6 at Santa Pod a few weeks ago, but that was before airbox and decat and interior strip. I reckon he could get into the 14s there.
Still, only one way to find out...!
Oh no! Not another irresponsibility arguement. 99% of us have got carried away in the heat of the moment out on the open road. No need to fall out over it!
Edit - although probably best not to mention speeds attained over 100mph!
Fair enough question though. We dont have to fall out over it. Im in the market for a 172 and will not be going for a Cup. Entirely personal choice. Id rather have ABS and aircon and lose a few tenths of a second in performance.
If performance is all that matters to you, then you have to go...
