Not sure if silver car and white wheels will look very good. Usually red and black are the only colours that look good with white wheels. Maybe darker wheels would look better with a silver car?
Think I might go for the Eibach springs. Coilovers would be nice, but I already know that lowering a 172 does great things for the handling. Would get Spax springs again as they were good on my MK2, but they sound a bit too much like "Spaz" springs, and people look at me funny if I say Ive just...
Jon - didnt say it is quicker, said it "seems" quicker! Anyway, remember that this is an original MK1 with the light bonnet, so itll be miles faster than your pathetic little Williams. HA, MWAHAH, MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ;)
Anyway, the proof of the pudding is in the thrashing it senselessly...
Brun - cheers, will check it out.
Simon - W reg, aluminium bonnet and functioning change light. Aparently it was the 42nd MK1 to make it to the country! Only warranty work needed was the boot leak problem. Not many rattles and mint condition. Im in lurrrve!
Will definitely be getting the AP22 out soon. Ill say this quietly as I dont want to upset the Williams, but the 172 seems faster! Still, better wait to test it before commenting much further. I will say though that it did feel stonkingly quick from the passenger seat. Im used to being a...
This decade I will mostly be driving French hatches...
Clio 1.4 16v, Clio 172 MK2, Williams, 206GTi and 205GTi and now MK1 172 (although not entirely mine I suppose).
Just agreed to buy a beautiful MK1 172 in lovely titanium silver with a mega light weight aluminium bonnet and in what appears to be totally mint condition (and a much loved by its current owner). Cant wait to pick it up...were going to be a 2 Clio family :D Roll on Sunday.
Anyone want to sell...
Paddy, have you actually weighed your luggage net? Mine weighs about 2kg....like i said, fecking heavy for a few bits of string and plastic. Performance killer.
My parents have a new Laguna with the 1.9 120bhp DCi engine. The car is the same size a an aeroplane and it still shifts quite nicely. I bet that engine in a Clio or a Megane would be great fun.
Rhys
Cool, lucky git!
BTW, James, Ive got a little GPS unit now that can check the accuracy of your speedo. Ive used this to calibrate the AP22 and I reckon if it was under reporting before. I think if we try again youll get a rather better 100mph time.....let me know if you want to give it a go...
Difference strengths, different weaknesses. Diplomatic answer but its true. Williams seems to handle better as standard and the 172 seems quicker as standard. Which would I rather drive? Both, which is convenient :D.
Its probably more to do with the cost of young famous people smashing fast cars into people and getting the crap sued out of them. Potentially lots of £££££££££ involved in settling that sort of thing!
Wonder if Ill be the first Cliosport member to a) own a 172 and Williams at the same time and b)to have had a Williams, MK1 172 and MK2 172?! Wow, what a claim!
LOL! No way, the Williams is like the Valver. My left leg is three times the size of my right due to the immense amount of excercise it gets with that sodding clutch. Traffic jams are a b*****d in the Willy.
lol, yeah....
- "IS IT MY GO YET, IS IT MY GO YET?????"
- "no.....about another 5 hours yet....."
-"Oh right.....IS IT MY GO YET?"
Heheheh.....whats he getting?
