Dropped key down windscreen air vent

Is this to: A) open the door the key belongs to? B) Open the dash C) Both of the above?

snapped key in ignition barrel. help.

Can you pull what is left of the key out to do the fuel cap, or maybe try and see if you can get a copy of it cut? Not sure how cutting new keys works if the key is broken but it might be possible?

    EPAS on 172 Cup

No I mean can I run it with just the Epas column like on a standard dci or 1.2 so with assistance but out any adjustment. Would save me 40 odd pounds to start with, I guess I could always add it at a later date. Or so I need it to get the system to work on a 172? Sorry for the stupid questions.

    EPAS on 172 Cup

Great. Well done getting it all done. Do you think for an everyday car you could do without the adjust?

    shortening shocks

Im not disagreeing but it happens. And they are tuneable. It's not that stupid tho as you can vary the rate of them in the same way you tune a car by varying the rate of the spring you vary the rate or hardness of the bump stop.

    shortening shocks

for some OEM's they are classed as a tuneable item. The way they behave when you contact them is very important. It can lead to sudden changes in handling balance of the vehicle if the change is too abrupt or at the wrong place in the suspension travel. Some cars will run as standard only a few...

    Chassis differences ?

I would agree with this. If AC is not important then it would be a 172 cup for me personaly. Also I personally would avoid the 182 Cup if I knew I was going to be mod'ing the suspension as I think there is less suspension coil over options available for 182 Cup / Cup packed vehicles.

    EPAS on 172 Cup

Please could you do a guide with pics and part numbers etc. I know this thread is kinda doing this already but if you could then put it into the guide section with pics and issues / tips that would be fantastic.

Help! wheel wobble.. New driveshafts, gearbox and hub.

My opinion would be that making it very low has put extra stress on something that is causing it. From what you have said you seem to be able to see the movement when you have the car on stands / a ramp. Sounds like driveshaft to me, but you have changed that so it's a tough one. I would do...

Is the car modified? Is it slammed?

had a bump - people claiming off me

This sucks, but I am sure there is someone you know that witnessed it, and they can confirm they stopped for no reason and their brake lights didn't work. Or that you didn't actually hit them, or that they actually rolled into you. They are lying so you may as well do the same.

Front wishbone replacement - DIY or garage?

Where did you get these from, I need to replace mine asap.

    steering rack creak

There are only so many components that will cause this so it should just be a case of systematically checking them. But, as said before, having a ramp or pit makes this much easier!

    steering rack creak

I have just replaced the lower ball joints. I would do the work myself, I don't think it would be too bad but have lost use of a garage recently but I am sure I can find somewhere! What is frustrating is I had the engine out just before xmas, it would have been a very good time to change it...

    steering rack creak

If there is a chance it is the rubber boot then start there, should be quick and easy to rule it out. If it is the boot then something like GT86 should stop it (check its a lubricant that won't degrade the rubber like WD40).

    steering rack creak

I did exactly what you did, cheap things / easy things first. Wishbone bushes are next for me. Really not sure if I should go with poly bushes or go standard again, not sure I really rate the poly bushes for a road car. Also not sure if I should try and just do new bushes or go all out and...

    steering rack creak

Mine is pulling about terribly, I have done rack bushes, track rods and track rod ends. Next on the list is wishbone bushes for me. Just hope it is not the rack that is gone!!

Steering rack bush change - is there a guide?

I didn't find a guide either, but did it a couple of weeks ago. It isn't too hard, but can be quite fiddly. Make sure you have a good selection of socket extensions (I think you need a deep 13mm sockets as well but not sure!) and I found a universal joint attachment useful as well. Other bit...

My first day Off roading! Awesome!!!!

Can I suggest that anyone who wants to try offloading with a LR experience seriously considers making the trip to Eastnor Castle. It is fantastic and it is where we do our off road training for work. All the LR experiences are great but Eastnor is just brilliant.
